My guess is that "stainless" refers to the finish, not the frame material. I would be surprised if they offered this with a stainless steel frame. Other than the external safety, I don't see how this is much different than the Kahr offerings.

There isn't much on the webs yet but I did find this where they mention two models: http://www.kimber1911pistols.com/blog/k ... olo-carry/

The ambi safety is something I'm not sure I like. In addition why can't anyone make a micro with DA/SA?

I like the looks of it. The trigger would be the determining factor for me. Short, light, and crisp and it's a possibility.

I enjoyed carrying my P45. It was so light and slim. The long, albeit smooth, DA trigger of the Kahr was not to my liking.

I tend to agree with this. Unfortunately from what I've read it will be "long and smooth." I'd much prefer a trigger like a 1911 than a revolver in this gun. I also like the looks of it, but don't see any advantage to this over one of the many Kahr offerings.

Weren't you issued a safety..... :?

Yes, my finger. It hasn't failed me yet.

Just read a great article by Ayoob in american handgunner regarding all the lives saved by the 1911 thumb safety. Mostly from people trying to shoot you with your own gun. He goes on to say that he couldn't find an instance where the existence of a safety caused a problem for the gun's owner.

Sounds like he doesn't believe the old saw that a safety is a detrimental thing, even though one shouldn't obviously rely on it for safety.

I never said the safety was detrimental, its just not for me.

And while I haven't read the article, I wonder how they know that the safety has never gotten someone killed because they couldn't deactivate it quickly enough? A dead man doesn't talk.
Someone on this board has a story about troubles with a safety during a real life situation. They were lucky to live, but could just as easily been dead.

It all comes down to personal preference.

It isn't, if you practice sweeping it off on the draw a few thousand times.

The problem is, a lot of gun owners don't do that kind of practice and assume that in possibly the most stressful moment of their life they will remember to take off the safety. It doesn't always work like that.

I would like to know what value a "good trigger" presents for a down and dirty defensive pistol. This is not a target gun, this is a weapon of last resort.

I like the long trigger, and I also like the option of applying a manual safety if one so chooses. This seems like a nice little pistol.

Other than the fact that it says Kimber on it, looks like a nice pistol.

Cabelas in Rogers had one in the case on Saturday, had a $699 price tag but also noted that it is not for sale-demo only.

I believe that was Goalie. Fortunately he had a whole Squad of MArines there to cover for him while he figured it out ;-)

He would have been more than all set had he brought his Marlin 30-30 with him to that party.....
