Permit denied, next steps..

I think we all have something to loose if someones rights are being denied unjustly.......................

Then get effen upset that we even have to get permission to purchase, let alone carry, a weapon..........we have lost most of those rights........

I am actually upset about that. The fact this guy is going through the trouble of trying to legally purchase a firearm should be commended. Our society generally forces the law abiding to follow increasingly complex regulations and restrictions. It's also fairly easy to get a felony in the wrong circumstances, and disenfranchisement and deprivation of civil rights once your term has been served generally haunts a person their entire life.

You can also defend your house if someone is committing a felony in it....


and it can be a felony to have someone cheat on income tax....

So have the in-laws over and watch em cheat on their taxes....

Gotta say im not impressed with marc barris. Had my permit denied for sothing when i was 12. I emailed my instructor who told me to contact him. I did and never heard back from him. But being savy w/ legal system and working in a law office for years i was able to settle it myself and got my permit a week after the denial.

I just wanted to state i contacted him and left a message explaining why i was calling and my contact number and NEVER heard from him. If i needed a lawyer for anything firearms related id give gim a try again but from my one experience trying to obtain his services as a paying client i felt completely ignored

This inevitably ends up being my fault, because they SWEAR they left their number.

Ditto, plus, Lawyers are busy people... They are always juggling 10 things at once. Maybe you did leave a number, he accidentally hit 7 (Delete) instead of 4 (Replay), I do it all the time. There are plenty of legitimate reasons why you're contact was lost, not ignored.

I think it's a quite a leap to say you're "not impressed" with a lawyer you never even had contact with.

Try again, or follow up with an email next time. Persistence pays off.

Well, I've practiced law, and lawyers do sort out "inquiries" from possible clients. People want to talk on the phone, it takes time, you can't get paid for that, and it creates a conflict so the lawyer might not be able to reresent the next client. Playing phone tag with folks who are not serious can take half the day.

If you left a message saying that you wanted an appointment to come in for for a conference, I'd bet a secretary would get back to you. If you said, " I want you to call me", the lawyer might or might not play phone tag. And yeah, it costs money to talk to the lawyer. ASK HOW MUCH. Sometimes it's free, sometimes not. For advice on a permit denial which can probably be settled in a week, probably not. But probably not more than the cost of a range trip with a couple boxes of ammo and a burger.

A lawyer client relationship is not like going to WalMart, the lawyer will or will not want to work on your problem. Lawyers get lots of contacts from folks that appear unreliable, and it's easier not to even talk to those folks. As we see, a lawyer can get criticism from someone who has never even met him. That's why.

Lawyers don't work at huge clinics, like doctors. Send a text to a doctor you don't know; see if he calls you this evening......
