I used Krylon on my AR. Damn near as durable, fraction of the cost, easily removed if you wanna change patterns. If youre set on Duracoat try Don Johnson at Double Taps Firearms.

+1 for Krylon. The stuff works great & is easy to touch-up or remove/change it. For foliage patterns, snip off twigs from houseplants & spray over them. Just don't let your wife/girlfriend catch you

 It's a 23" bipod so you can sit on your butt & shoot. I built the AR for shootin' prairie dogs, but still haven't had a chance to actually go & do it. I am definitely going to plan a trip to SoDak soon though.

His prices are online and I believe are $125 for a long gun and $30 per color on cammo patterns plus the template cost.

Check out Joshua arms too. It's a local outfit and I recently got to see some of their work and it is very good. They use a process called ceracote which is far more durable than duracote. One of their team just recently joined the board, shoot him a message and see what they can do for you, here is a link to the guy

Piece of advice here,
Get yourself a bipod you can use prone. Most of your shots on dogs will be 250+ after the close ones go down.
at least bring a shorter Harris with.

Also a fastfire...? this is why I love you tromix, you go prairie dog hunting with a cbq attachment on your dog gun. I guess on the up side if you have to follow the suckers down their holes you will be read for some in your face action! ;) (just given you ****, as I wish I could afford one)

On paint,
Krylon is a rattle can paint, not even same ball game as a two parter. It's a good rattle can paint, but from my experience it's not nearly as durable.

The paint it's self is cheaper, that's true, but if I'm going to spend 3 hours prepping and an hour painting a rifle, the 7 bucks I'd save on paint isn't even a factor in the equation.

IMHO, applying with an airbrush is magnitudes easier than using a rattle can, but I have access to an airbrush, compressor, parts washer etc.... so maybe I'm biased.

Also I like your camo job, very well done.

I always make sure I have a Harris 6-9" & 9-13" on hand. FastFire? It's actually a prototype miniature Barrett BORS Ballistic Computer ;)

I've had a HVLP air gun setup on my wishlist for a long time now, but just haven't got around to buying one yet. Until then, Krylon rules for me.

Well, I just got in my duracoat and airbrush, i'll post some before and after picks so you can judge for yourselves how bad I screwed it up.

I am going to go buy some transfer tape paper so I can make my own stencils. :)
