I think the Slidefire is neat but I do expect that the ATF will re-classify it as illegal at some point unless there is a massive overhaul of the ATF. Said overhaul is unlikely to functionally happen.

Here's a video review of one:

They are pretty expensive to feed too.

I just cant get why anyone wants to make a bump-fire gun, especially deliberately
.

Because they want to play and maybe do not have the money that other have to play in the class III arena.

I don't get that... It seems that every time someone comes up with a device to get around the FA ban, they turn around and make it illegal. Then there is the issues with the ATF charging folks that have malfunctioning rifles with illegal possession of a FA weapon.

Believe me, it is cheaper to buy a legal FA than to fight it out in court that your "dingus" was not a full auto weapon, but a "legal" trigger mod.

I am not arguing that it should be that way, but it is, and it is not worth it for the fun of FA fire on the cheap. Having bump fired guns before accidentally, and shot FA weapons, there is no comparison between the two. Bump fire accidental-a purpose is more likely to get inaccurate shots and you are concentrating on the mechanics of the shooting, not on the target. While I suppose there is some fun to making a lot of noise, you can do that with a packet of Black Cats. Who was it that said Gunnery, Gunnery, all else is twaddle.... Hit the target!- I read it in one of Cooper's books, but I think he was quoting some naval officer. It seems appropriate in this context as well.

My guess is they would not have to stretch too far to make that fall under the above statute.

Bingo... ATF letter does not save you from this.

At THIS time it is legal. It is NOT a trigger actuator - it is a STOCK - when they figure out how to make a bump firing illegal, then this will fall into the ATF Black Hole.

However that being said, I agree with Squib Joe 100% Damn....

I do not own an AR-15 or any of its derivatives, so I do not have a dog in this hunt, but my observation is that if it walks like a duck, quacks likes a duck …

Do not be surprised when the ATF does a "WTF!!!"

What we call it really doesn't matter, by the definition set in statutes, it is a trigger activator...

MN Statutes 609.67 wrote:(d) "Trigger activator" means a removable manual or power driven trigger activating device constructed and designed so that, when attached to a firearm, the rate at which the trigger may be pulled increases and the rate of fire of the firearm increases to that of a machine gun.

What is the rate of fire for a machine gun?
Is your finger considered a removable device?
Is bump fireing considered illegal in Mn?

All it takes is an LEO and a county attorney to decide it is.

Bump firing may not be illegal, but a device to cause it may well fall in to the "Trigger activator" hole that the MN legislature wrote.

Its because of this kind of stuff its cheaper to just buy the bloody tax stamped version.

How many billable hours do you think your attorney is going to burn through to get your axx out of a sling if they decide to arrest you, and you get charged? You may well win (except in the metro...) but still buy a S&W76 and play with it and its much less cash and headache. Conversely, just go to one of the local ranges that have a full auto rental night and maybe pay $200 and get it out of your system. It may not be right, but its the way it is. Heck, I suspect there are more than a few here who think that FA ownership should be covered by the 2nd A. Good luck with that in court, unless your name is Buffett.

C&R license, $30
Reising 45 sub gun $3500-$4500

A hoot to shoot...brings immense smiles to user faces. And, not all that pricey...and legal in MN.

There was an FYI bulletin on this in my office today.

It noted that the stock had passed the BATFE requirement.
