I have a CHEAP spotting scope I'd be willing to loan but I'm located near Rosedale.
private or small grou permit classes available

I picked up my scope from Sportsmans guide for like $45. Can't say it's been bad for me. Could be better for sure.

For an Appleseed, don't think you will really need one. I used it for service rifle competition where we went out to 1000 yards.

I keep looking at this stuff and saying, "I can purchase XX rounds of ammo for that price!"

So I pulled some of my carpet scraps out of the garbage, picked up some $5 elbow pads at Wally World and ordered 4000 rounds of ammunition.

I feel much better now.

That will work. The nice thing about those pads/bags is it is one less thing to carry and they can be carried on your back. Sometimes it costs a little real money, but saves a lot of effort.

They are nice but not necessary.

They save walking down to look at targets some of the time. But, if you peek through them in between stages, you can psych yourself out and lose your mindset.

I just cut the finger tips off some tight grippy work gloves that I had and also ordered another 20 boxes of ammo.

I don't feel I need a spotting scope for appleseed. If I get into some of the high power stuff, I will need to figure that one out.

I have other things that I really NEED before I get into these nice to have things. A second AR15 and something else in .308 like an M1A or AR10 need to come first. Wife needs to settle on a carry pistol too.

Ditto that.

Post some pics of targets when you get back.

And on the toys in .308 comment, you can NEVER go wrong with a good bolt gun like a Savage, Rem 700 or Marlin XL7.

Had fun and worked hard today. Many thanks once again to everyone who helped out. We would have been very lost without all of the help as the training moves pretty fast. Got lots of stuff to do tonight to get ready to be able to go back tomorrow so I don't have time to post much. Will say that we really like the Appleseed Project and the way the training works. Learned lots and worked on improving. Will certainly be back tomorrow (sounds like many don't show the second day) and we are already planning to go back next month.

Now for first day scores:
I shot a 128
Wife shot a 145!!

Below 125 = Unqualified
125-169 = Marksman
170-209 = Sharpshooter
210 or more = Expert (Rifleman)

BTW We Hurt!

Both your scores should improve tomorrow.

Had a very good day today. I we shot around 500 rounds each today after around 175 each the first day. We did 10 of the AQT sessions but no one made rifleman today. I will post more info later when I get some time.

My high score = 152
Wife = 162

One of the trainers let me shoot 5 rounds from his M1A at the end of class! :D
