Which gun would you buy with your tax rebate?

Postby DeanC on Thu Jan 24, 2008 9:53 am

Theoretical exercise:

So, Uncle Sugar is going to give us all a $300 check for doing nothing. He wants us to spend it in order to stimulate the economy. SInce our publicly traded gunmakers have been so beat up in this first half of a recession, I think we ought to oblige them both and buy a new gun.

So, which gun (or gun related product) would you buy for $300? No fair putting in your own additional money or saving it for later. You need to go out and help the firearms industry right now. You get to take your $300 check down to the dealer and sign it over to him. You can't pull extra cash out of your pocket or trade in something else. Let's see your ideas:

Most likely if I see any rebate check, I'll use it for bills and possibly some ammo or components, but otherwise, based on your constraints, I might find some Crimson Trace Laser Grips for my Taurus ultralight attractive.

Look for a deal, local or online and then buy AMMO. It won't get cheaper..

I've gotta order some AR parts, about $400 total, 2 80% stainless lowers and an upper, chrome bolt carrier and a few other parts.

At that price range, it would be an 870 for me.

Off topic. I would go with a new high end flashlight and some holster leather.

Dang. I just put in an order for some flashlights before finding out about said refund :).

I'm gonna have to put in a little extra of my own cash and I think I'll be putting it toward a 4" gun in .40 or .45 (likely a XD, M&P, or Glock depending on the results the tupperware testing party).

Either a KelTec P3AT or a Bersa Thunder

If we get one for the kids, as I heard the talking head say this morning, my 11 year old daughter will get a .22 rifle and my 10 year old boy will get a 20ga Winchester 1200. I'll keep my 6 year old son's $300 to help pay me back for the M1 Garand I bought for him a couple years ago.

I like to spend my wife's $300 on a .38 special for her, but she'll probably spend on something stupid like food.
