well, assuming i had any time to shoot these guns in my hypothetical collection, here goes:
Ruger 10-22
Remington 700 in 308Win (with a 3-9 scope)
Marlin Model '94 in 30-30 (dad's has a 3x scope on it, and i love that gun)
Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 in 20ga (perfect defense, bird, skeet, all around fun shotgun, and both available in a "youth" model for shorter arms and less LOP)
LWRC REPR. if you don't know about this gun, read a gun rag! here's a link: http://www.lwrci.com/p-120-repr.aspx with a Trijicon Accu Point 2.5-10<--------this one's my pipe dream
Single Action revolver, i like the Blackhawk line of Ruger's. again, my dad has a Super Blackhawk in 44mag. great six gun
Double Action revolver, i'm a sucker for my Taurus 357! it's old and i don't have paperwork stating when it was made and such, but i think it's a '97 and model 629?
Polymer gun, i like my FN (especially after getting better ammo through the pipe) FNP-40. maybe a 9mm would be good too, but i have the 40. (oh, and i'm not a fan of the Glock guns)
1911. every one should have one, myself included.
SA/DA (well, my FN is, but for argument's sake...) Sig Sauer P229. there. i said it!!!!!
carry weapon? that's up to you. i like my FN, but most would say it's too big to carry daily. i'm not a 380 kinda guy either, so subcompacts are not going to be my reccomendation
EVERYONE that carries a weapon should have a backup. i prefer to have my Benchmade folder
