i'm still wondering how Glock is the posterchild for polymer pistols? there's the HK (as previously mentioned) and S&W M&P, FNH's FNP line, FNH's FiveseveN (pretty cool gun, uglier than a Glock, too!), Ruger's SD9 & SD40, Springer has the XD's & XDM's, the list goes on.

Really, Glock is not the be-all and end-all to defensive weapons. i have never owned one, and i don't think i ever will. sorry fanboys, the truth hurts

To be fair, every other military/police organization in the world weren't tripping over each other to buy the original HK's.

It wasn't until every other cop in the U.S. was carrying one, that Springfield decided to buy up that Croatian co., S&W introduced the Sigma, and Ruger EVENTUALLY produced their own striker-fired knock-off's ... et. al.

They don't fit my hand ... anymore ... but when they did, they were a LOT more gun fer the money than most anything else of its kind. I know a few guys who've had to send back XD's ... I had an early M&P that wouldn't shoot to POA (minor sight adjustment weren't gonna cut it  ) ... no clue if either has improved significantly, or if the anti-Glock thing makes 'em impervious to such "features". Glocks, if ya don't F with 'em, Friday guns are VERY few 'n far 'tween ... never seen one, myself. And, even if ya F with 'em a bit, they're still purdy good. Too bad they don't fit my hand, no more.

I'll live! 8-)

USP. Load, apply safety, place in holster. You can also buy the version that has no decocker, but I have never used mine. It is my favorite choice in combat tupperware.

Fair enough, but my other reason for disliking HK pistols is that the bore axis is too high. Glocks at least sit nice and low. I prefer the M&P out of the polymer guns.

I'm wondering a lot of things as well... like don't you have a Seagal movie to be watching right about now?

ok, so i have an opinion and i become a joke? yeah, i have never owned a Glock. i have shot one, and it shot well, but the grip was way funky for me, and i like hammers

and as far as a Segal movie goes, i was planning on watching Executive Decision tonight at the hospital with my dad. the best part of that movies is when Segal dies at the very begining

I owned a Glock 19 in the early 90's. I can say it was reliable. It just was not all that accurate though.

It just lacked character so to speak. It was like buying a Bic pen or a bar of soap. It did what it was suppose to, but there was just not a
"wow" factor for me. I traded it in for a Colt Officers ACP and a HK P7M8, yes, along with cash.

My thinking as to why the police jumped on the Glock? It was most likely the lowest cost bidder. Think about it, if you had to persue someone in a car, would your first choice be a Crown Victoria? I would rather use a BWM 540 myself, provided that I needed funtional rear seats. I too would also choose a Glock before I had a double action decocker gun with a mag disconnect. If the HK USP did not have the cocked and locked option, I would not own one of those either.

The G17L was the first handgun I purchased for myself... I could have easily bought a HK MK23 or a number of other pistols as price wasn't an issue. To this day I have absolutely no regret in purchasing it, or with its performance. I now own a ton (probably more literally than figuratively) of other pistols and my opinion really hasn't changed other than being thankful I was happy with my first choice. There are a lot of arguments over what's the best handgun, etc...

In my opinion the G17 is one of the best and affordable handguns in the world today.

If you don't like it...fine more for me.
