air conditioned range?

Postby akodo on Fri Jul 08, 2011 6:07 pm

I normally go to BPR for my shooting. However, it can be darned hot at times. Back before the gun range next to mystic lake casino had it's fire, that was a nice ACed range.

Any other ranges roughly in the twin cities area ACed?

Ranges have a massive volume of air circulating out into the filters and I've yet to find one that could get more than ten-fifteen degrees less than the outside temp in the summertime. To get a range "chilly" when it's 90 degrees outside would require HVAC units almost as large as the range itself. Bill's South uses individual AC blowers behind each point but on a very hot day it will still be warm out there.

Just a make up air with cooling coils. Yes you do have to over size it but you can make it happen. I just started up a make up air with coils last Thursday when it was 90+ outside. We had a discharge air temp of 55. On that unit we can keep supply temp at 55 anywhere from -45 to 120 outside roof temp. I would say the reason ranges don't do it is because it cost a lot of money to run it.

That probably why they charge so much for the public to shoot there...;-) Also the gov. pays for it too.

Vantage point in Kasota stays darn cool. They have the water running down in back. I am sure that has to help. Way cooler then Bills.

Thanks, up until today I didn't know there was a Kasota MN... Any thing else I should know about this bastion of civilization which apparently has a cool gun range?
