how much ammo

Postby zachkuby87 on Mon Aug 22, 2011 6:24 pm

Hey guys I bet your getting sick of me and all my questions but here we go anyway. How much ammo do you usually bring with you to the range? How much do you keep at home? Now me personally I bring around 100 rounds per gun at least and I usually keep at least 100 rounds per gun at home.

I bring what I plan to shoot, plus a little more.

Tends to be in the 100s to 1000s of rounds.

I keep as much on hand as I can afford to. At one time, I had over 10k each of 5.56, .45, and .22lr. I also had 1000s of rounds of several other calibers.

I've had to reduce my ammo buget to spend money on other things, so I've eaten into my stockpiles lately, but I've still got lots.

Really depends on a lot of things. How much time I have, where I'm going, how much advance did I have before knowing that I'm going, what I'm taking. If someone asks me to go randomly, it may be 50 I buy at the range and run through my carry gun. If we're heading up north for a weekend, it might be a total of a couple thousand.

I take 400-500 rounds when I goto the range. I tend to go and stay awhile

I bring a minimum of 40 for each heavier rifle, 100 each minimum for centerfire pistols, and 500 .22 for rifles and pistols.

If i take the grandson, I double that, though he is not a fan of the heavy rifles.

I frequently take 8-10 total guns to the range and spend three or four hours. That ammo adds up a bit!

The grandson believes that taking home ammo lessens the experience... :)

100 rounds per/handgun and .223, maybe 20-40 for 30.06 / 54r / 308, 500 22 lr. Range sessions for me are usually 2-3 hours. I practice malfunctions a lot, and rarely just send lead.

As for what's at home, it is none of your damn business... :D

I bring all the ammo I care to shoot for the guns I brought with, the guns I didn't, and the guns I don't own but have ammo for in case somebody else brought a neat toy. Then I try and lift my range bag, decide the strap is going to bust off and set about lowering my expectation of how many rounds I'll send down range that day.

Shotgun ammo is easier; I just grab a 50 cal can of reloads.

When I visit the range, I usually have about 250 rounds. At home, I think I have about 250 ball and 100 HP. Zombies aren't here yet so I don't feel the need to increase my ammo.

Strad, we're all coming to your house in case of the zombie apocalypse. Well there or the in-laws.
