Moving to duluth.. stuff to bring?

Postby user293 on Mon Aug 29, 2011 9:36 pm

Well i graduated tech school here back in may, and I just got offered a position at St. Mary's in duluth. duluth is a good 2 hours away from me. my first time moving as im only 21. i got my gun safe, my reloading stuff and all my guns here at home. ill probably be moving into an Apartment (1, maybe 2 Bedrooms), soooooo how do they (landlords of Apt's) like having guns/reloading supplies or equipment in their units? is it not really appreciated, do they not care? just wondering if people have opinions or experience with this type of thing. id really not have to come home to load ammo on the weekends, or get my guns from home, id rather have them with me. my competition gun and gear is coming with me regardless :D . thanks for the help!

I Keep my reloading stuff in the apartment garage, and my firearms in the apartment closet. Haven't checked since we moved in (3 years ago) what the policy is on guns in the apartments. But I didn't ask, so they don't know.

land lords cannot prevent you from having guns. State law.

You didn't say when you'll be moving but don't forget winter starts up here in about 3 weeks. If you're interested you can pm me and I can tell you some of the areas that you may not want to move into.
The 2nd Amendment is the ONLY amendment in the Bill of Rights that specifies that it shall not be infringed.

Take him up on that. I know the areas were moving a little when we left, central was creeping past Chester Creek when we were up there. I loved being able to duck hunt before work, grouse after... drive fifteen minutes and fly fish for brookies...

This

It's in that pesky US Constitution too...

They MAY have some rules regarding storage of combustibles, which may or may not include powder.

i'm not a lawyer, but the way it was always explined to me is that landlords can include it in a lease agreement and choose who they do and don't lease too. if you sign a lease with an agrement, you're bound and may be sunject to action later.

i lived in about 7 different apt's during my colledge career - about half had a specific clause inthe lease not allowing firearms. i found that the management companies were usually the ones that did this, private or much smaller landlords tended to not be anti-pricks.

find a good landlord. or learn to keep quiet and discreet (guitar cases instead of gun cases for public transport :D )

be aware though if you sign a lease with a no-firearm apt and there is a fire or a robbery you may be SOL with insurance and worst case may be facing an eviction :x

it is what it is man.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
i do what i can, where i'm needed, and i ask so little in return. i'm a true humanitarian fueled by rainbows and whiskey. you should be so lucky to know me...

Leases can have whatever they want, but items that violate state laws are not enforceable. Have some personal experience with this one. :)

This. You can't include a lease clause that violates state law. Keep your mouth shut while signing it and ignore the parts that are unenforceable.

Minneapolis will even provide the lawyers for you if you have a beef with your landlord. Not sure what Duluth will do.
