I was running the checkin / register a few weeks ago when someone totally freaked out that I would dare arm myself while working at a gun club (like most of the range officers that day)

That was an entertaining, but very polite, conversation - at least from my end.

I've open carried on my range duty days twice - its led to great conversations with folks (when it was slow otherwise). 2nd amendment, holster styles, carry law, instructor recommendations, hunting stories, etc...now, when I was on my way home I swung into the Kwik Trip in Woodbury...rather than disarm, I went in for a Gatorade and a cookie. The folks behind the counter were "extremely" polite - to the point of being visibly nervous. IMHO, that didn't help matters, so I paid with a smile on my face, said thanks and left.

I had a great conversation with a father and his 12-13 year old son at Oakdale this weekend when they were waiting to check in - I had just popped in the office to check with the cashier on how things were going (I was lead RO at the time) -- his father was clearly a carry advocate and his son was fascinated that people were carrying handguns openly.

Great chance to educate in the right settings

This is why I hang out in the Gopher, even through I normally don't OC, but sometimes do there. Anybody bitching about it will get throw out by George himself with a truckload of EFFENHEIMERS to boot, and I can just sit there and keep my mouth shut...

This video started making my blood pressure go up !
People have gone through the same thing in Philadelphia . By law in this city you can open carry with a license to carry firearms. Many of people went through interrogations and being detained by the gun law ignorant police here only to either have to conceal the weapon or get arrested. There have been many open carry marches and demonstrations in this town but fact remains your better off concealing here ! Where Philadelphia gets you is when you apply for your permit, they make you sign a waiver saying that the permit is for concealed carry only. Your basically signing away your right to open carry in which the state of Pennsylvania allows, except in a city of first class {Philadelphia} except when done so with a concealed carry permit. The rest of PA can open carry without a permit ! This is just one reason why I want to leave this town. There are others but too long to mention. When you do apply for a permit here and if you refuse to sign the affidavit that allows you to conceal carry only, you will be denyed your carry permit alltogether. So I figure having a gun concealed is better than not having one at all !
People who are against guns will never have true freedom !

I Know, it Sucks ! I do what I can to educate people but it's getting harder each day. Too many people in this town are Ultra Left Wing and don't even want to hear about it. I got tired trying to prove the point to morons so I pretty much avoid the subject with certain folks. Others I have turned though so it's not a total loss.
I convinced a good 15 people about our 2nd amendment rights and they went and bought firearms that week ! It's the reason why I want to move to the northwest part of the state of PA. There's more freedom up that way when it comes to firearms.
People who are against guns will never have true freedom !
