They are like Taurus. They make okay stuff at value prices. I have only seen their revolver stuff, but never owned any of the other stuff. Beretta owns Uberti.

Comparing them to cars, they would be some type of work/utility vehicles. They are functional, but certainly not collectibles.

Nice shooting gun.
I have a Uberti Cattleman .45 Colt.
Pretty darn accurate.
I reload using Trail Boss for a mild pressure load.
Well worth the money.

I have owned two Uberti firearms. An 1848 Colt .31 caliber reproduction that I bought long ago and gave away, and an 1860 Colt. The quality is good, but certainly not up to the standards of more prestigious manufacturers, as others have indicated. I do believe that all of their goods are functional and made to be shot, not collected.

The one I have is fine for the purpose I brought it for (cowboy action shooting on an intermittent basis...) but I have not put enough rounds through it to get an idea if it is durable. It does not look as durable as a ruger vaquero for example.

The fit and finish is good.

Accuracy is OK.

Action is not as good as a colt, but it probably could be brought to that level with some good gunsmith work.

I would say that it is a good enough value, assuming you want a simple shooter as opposed to a collectable gun, which it is not.

Thanks for the replies, saw some Revolvers at Ahlman's and thought as cheap as they were they must be a POS. Looking at some NRA Rifleman magazines they talk like they are great or somethin, although, most of that talk is shotguns..................... ;)

Just generalizations

Colt 1911-Armsor 1911
S&W double actions-Taurus DA
Colt/Ruger SA-Uberti SA

Cant speak from personnal experience but the Colt is probably about as reliable as the Uberti from a competitive standpoint as the Colts are noted for breaking handsprings and such, The Uberti 73 rifles are probably the most used rifle in CAS.

I've shot a Marlin, a Winchester, and now use a Uberti ... different models ... but there's a reason the Uberti '73 is "most used" ... it's simply the best!

I don't own any Uberti pistols ... I've got Vaqueros ... fer $400 - $500+, a Vaquero's an awful lotta gun, fer the money.

My buddy shoots Beretta's (made by Uberti) and Uberti's. The Beretta's were early guns, and had some issues ... Beretta took care of him, no charge! Beyond that, from what I've handled of 'em, they're fine guns. If not fer my Vaqueros, I wouldn't hesitate to buy 'em.

I believe Uberti markets a few different models of the basic '73 Peacemaker pattern. Cattleman is among the least expensive. Obviously, part of that is the finish. No clue if that extends, to the innards ... or to what extent.

However, in several years of shootin' SASS, there's been more than a few folks using Cattlemans, Stampedes (Beretta), and other Uberti models. Only problem I ever heard of was with my buddy's early Stampedes. However, I HAVE heard more than one guy complain 'bout his Colt breaking.

At which, if ya don't want a gun that's likely to break, don't get a Colt.

Does that mean a Vaquero's a "better" gun, than a Colt?
