I thought they only did trap and skeet, Love the place for that.

Hate having to go inside to shoot during nice weather.
Now that it is crappy I find out I can do pistol ....

Oh Well, guess I will be buying a membership once the ice melts.

Why can't you shoot in the winter?

My pointer club trains there and they treat us wonderfully, the fields for hunting are very nice. The sporting clays courses are fisrt rate and the food is always good. Staff is polite, professional and service oriented. Nice place, wish I lived closer and had the money to join.

Q: Do you know if they allow steel?

ME: Should not be a problem. We've shot our machine guns out there.

Q: Steel targets...?

Me: I thought you were asking something else. Sorry but we did not use steel targets for the machine guns - but we did use steel targets for the defensive course we held out there recently. We had exclusive use of one of the ranges )not the pistol range) for a few hours.

I was a trapper there ~2000. The sporting clays courses are very fun. When I worked there, it was mostly manual throwers but I know they have switched to electric ones now. I had a blast shooting all of the courses, being able to charge my rounds against my paycheck was always very tempting.

I know the ranges weren't used all that much when I worked there, shotgun sports are the real focus there. 5 stand, skeet, and the sporting courses are all great. I never worked much on the hunting side aside from the annual pheasant competitions. Hunting there isn't that great in my opinion as the birds are farm raised and don't pose the same challenge as true wild game.

If you want to brush up on your shotgun skills prior to hunting season, I can't think of a better place to do it.

Remember to tip your trapper too! (A dollar is absolutely fair)

Is it usually full? Can you practice drawing there, setting up your own targets, etc?

IMHO. They need to keep up on their clay throwers. Ive shot tons of sporting clay's there, Competitively and for league and not once Have I gone there without the machines being broke at one of the stations, sometimes more. Ive always had to substitute another thrown target for another  too bad, I live so close I can hear them shooting almost everyday.
Other than that they are top notch!

A fire at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club, 2920 E. 220th St., Spring Lake Township. The fire was called in at 12:36 p.m., contained by 1 p.m. and cleared by 3:36 p.m. The fire started under the floor of a fireplace. Some embers from the fireplace landed in the floor joists, causing the fire. The fire was confined to that area, but the club still needed to be closed for the evening due to the smoke.
