mwca show observation...

Postby justinvan on Sat Dec 10, 2011 7:24 pm

Am I the only one that found it odd to see one of the tables had a guy drinking beer as they were selling guns? Dont get me wrong I will sip on a beer as I walk through, and ocasionally make a purchase but it seemed odd to se a salesman drinking during the show. I am not trying to stir the pot... just an observation.

Ya don't hafta be a licensed dealer to have a table.

Also, when someone knows someone, who has a table, they'll sometimes sit with 'em fer an hour 'er so.

Is there something in the laws that says he cant use alcohol when selling a firearm? I would almost bet there is something about use of illegal drugs. I know .o4% when you are carrying. Just the same I was surprised by the onsite sale of beer at the show too.

Saw that to heard a woman make a comment bottle was sitting on his display didnt see him drink alot of younger guys around there had bottles if you were purchasing then you could make a comment but other than that I did not see dealer drinking we have to protect and stand by our dealers and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Drinking alcohol while you're working, or even giving the IMPRESSION that you've been drinking is the epitome of non-professionalism.

IMO, of course.

I was there for about three hours today and don't recall seeing ANYONE drinking a beer. It was too effen cold. I have seen more than one dealer drink a beer here and there. Frankly IMO we are all adults. If one isn't breaking the law and you are aware of your own moral code...don't sweat it. This forum is funny in how quickly it can sound out one of its own and sound like the liberal media.

FWIW, I spent last night at Mystic Lake. I had to sign a little form saying that I agreed to their NO Firearms and their NO alcohol policy. One should really consider what one wants before bitching too much...You just might get what you asked for.

I don't think the OP was calling anyone out. I took as he noticed it and it seemed odd to him.
As far as the Mystic Lake deal. Federal law that they brought on them selfs. They want the whole reservation to be dry. They haven't done a good job of it.

Bingo  Alcohol consumption seems to be a high priority hobby in this state, so I'm not surprised.

I was NOT "sounding out one if my own" just making an observation! As far as the "liberal media" goes I think that they would have a hayday with the fact that a FFL was at the show drinking in public while making firearms transactions. Does it bother me? Hell no... if he knows his limits and can control himself I would still buy from him! As my OP states I just found it odd and had never seen it before. And as far as the drinking period goes I like my beer as much as the next guy and always have a beer or two at the shows.

My highly professional ops team wants a liquor cart for our ops center. I tend to think they're right ;)

Do you know how crippled the investment business would be if it weren't for drinking during business hours? Just think where we would be now... oops...

Law and poffesionalism are to different things in my opinion. Certain situations are socially acceptable to conduct business while consuming. I would think selling an item that is the source of much public scrutiny in a venue that is the source of much public scrutiny would suggest a level of conservitism in ones decisions on how they present themselves. But hey, yelling at a police officer about everything he is doing wrong tends to be a sucessful way to get out of a ticket when one is pulled over too. So have at it. Sarcasim intended of course. ;)
