Naw, they wouldn't need an evening session for that...just come here and intro a new topic into "General Gun Chat"...should have an answer in 150-200 posts or so...

Did that on another board but more subtle. Like any Glock owners?

I figured as much. All right then -- since I've got 2 weeks worth of vacation to play on the computer. I'll start planning something for January. Since I started with it (and I want to learn something myself), 1911's will be the first topic -- the next Month's I'll probably determine as we go along.

Stay tuned...

this could be cool. then again, depending on if it's organized or not, it could turn into a disaster. you know, all the strong opinions on this board

i'd be interested in attending one, two or more of these gatherings of like minded weirdos

Yeah, I was hesitant about suggesting this only because, like the color of your car/house, etc, there are many opinions on these topics....and like they say, opinions are like ---holes.

So, I figured on keeping it informational only, and stay away from controversy...since most of us only are looking for basic level info, then can seek out more detailed info/opinions after the introduction. I mean, I don't know anything about reloading -- but I know one heck of a lot about loaded ammo....others may not know anything about optics, but are a wiz with a Glock (or other appropriate polymer framed pistol)....someone may like trap-shooting, but know nothing about 3-gun.

My point was to get people into a room who want to learn about some aspect of shooting that they may never have "gotten around to" seeing in person.

I would be interested in taking part in this topic, BUT I seriously recommend it be broken down into 4 separate sessions with multiple speakers. Others from the Forum are very knowledgeable on this subject also, and would do a great job. How about it Sam??? or others ???

"Read the book cover to cover and then reread it" - This is a recommendation I make to all new reloaders, buy a Hornady, Speer, Lyman, or Nosler Reloading Guide, among others, start at front and read up to reload data, repeat, repeat. If you don't understand by third reading - don't attempt to reload.

Four topics (generalized) + Fifth for Shotguns
1. Auto Pistol cartridges, powders, bullet selection, restrictions, & taper crimping techniques
2. Revolver & Straight-wall Rifle cartridges, powders, bullet selection, restrictions, & roll crimping techniques
3. Bottle-neck Rifle Cartridges, powders, bullet selection, restrictions, & Crimp / No-crimp techniques
4. Reloading for accuracy, techniques used for multiple classes of competition = NEED MULTIPLE SPEAKERS
I will explain how I prepare loads for 1000 yard competitions - methods that are usable with all other cartridges.
I have some unique ideas formed by trial & lots of errors that work for me and many top shooters in the FCSA.
I've explained some of that here online, but will bring picture examples and cases to prove out processing principles.

5. Shotguns - ???

Are you thinking of allowing the "handling" of firearms? or just talking about them? Personally, I'd rather see one, maybe even rack the slide? Venue will be important for that. Can't have a bunch of libs seeing a gun being passed around and wetting their pants. I don't want mop duty.

I will host (at the Legion)!

1911's? ... we'll simply call it "show 'n tell"! Image

I'll demo a "detail-strip" (don't get excited, Shippy ... not that kind! ) ... if Strad shows up, he can point out what I did wrong :( ... you can show how to slip that little ****in' series-80 POS back in there! Image

If anyone wants, fer $9, pick you up one of these, and ya can try "detail-strippin'" yerself, and slip that one in, when ya put it back together ('less ya own a Les Baer 'er somethin' :? ).

We'll also take "before" photo's and anytime anyone puts a fresh "idiot mark" on their frame, they buy a round! (if anyone shoots their recoil-spring cap across the room, they buy TWO rounds!)

Reckon we should also have a few prizes ... "most expensive 1911" (winner then becomes ineligible fer any other award) ... "cheapest 1911" ... "purdiest 1911" ... "ugliest 1911" ... "smoooovest 1911" ... "loosest 1911" ... "coolest grips" ... "best front-strap" (grip-tape, eligible) ... and "best magwell"
