this week i visited 3 gun shops for the first time myself. Thursday I ventured out to find Al's, I thought they had good inventory and the old guy ( I assume it was Al) behind the counter was quite friendly. Looked at a couple of the AR's and thanked him and headed out the door. My next stop was DK Mags. I stayed there and BS'd with Dave for a little while. The inventory was pretty good and the prices were good too. When it comes time to make a purchase, I will probably go back and see Dave.

Today I was in Woodbury and stopped at Hoffy's. The guy behind the counter was very nice and the inventory was ok. Being so close to home, I will go back.

Dave at DK Mags is a stand-up guy. I haven't had the chance to buy from him yet, but have stopped in a couple times and chatted. Friendly and very fair prices too. Wish I lived closer though, for convenience's sake I go to Koscielski's for the most part, but the $35 transfer fees can add up (Dave charges $20 or $25, I forget). Other than that, it's a great shop.

I bought my first handgun at the Frontiersman back in 1979, a S&W K-17 .22lr revolver. That was back when they still sold Evinrude outboard motors. While I believe it has changed hands since '79, I've continued to shop there and I've always been treated well. As for J&S, they have some nice guns but no customer service skills. However, they were the only Glock Shooting Sports Foundation dealer in the metro so I had to use them for a new Glock 19 I bought a year ago. Sitting there filling out the 4473 I had a sneaking suspicion I was just an inconvenience, but since the GSSF price for a new Glock 19 was $425 through them, I put up with it.

I was there yesterday and picked up a new toy from Marv. Always enjoy shopping there...

Marv and Paul are the best. Marv knows what I have... he always show me things I will like and tells when I stray... you wont like that .. or I wouldnt sell it to you.... They have adjusted scopes where I bought neither to scope nor the gun from them...... Marv sends me happy Birthday emails .....

I love the Gun stop .... I visit each at least twice per month.

I thought the prices at the Frontiersman were pretty decent. I was pricing some Winchester 94's and the 3 or 4 they had in stock were affordable. Gun Stop, on the other hand, didn't have much in the way of lever guns and the one Winchester 94 they did have looked like it was dragged behind a truck, and they wanted $399 for it :o . Cabin Fever is pretty cool. Not a very big gun selection but their customer service and staff are top notch
