I picked up my new SR22 today. Hopefully, I can find time this week to break her in.

Please post your imppressions once you've shot them a bit. I'd like to find something that eats more kinds of ammo than the Mosquito I bought a few years ago and never really liked.

The video review is what got my attention. The stark contrasty pics ruger is using don't do the gun any favors, but holding it and seeing it in the flesh it's a pretty good looking piece. I could do without some of the extra lines they put through it, but they've done well to hide the switchable grips seam.

When I first held it, the thing that stood out most was the balance. The CG of the empty gun is directly above your fingers at the front strap. I haven't loaded it up and seen what it does with a full mag, but the issue I have with the p22 is that there's no weight to it until you put the barrel extension on, and then all the weight is on the end of the muzzle. The ruger sits in your hand and just about points itself.

I'm looking forward to putting some rounds through it, and will likely get that done over the weekend.

I am intrigued by this pistol as well. I am interested in a plinker, as well as something the kids can use.

My lone concern is the safety. Up is Fire down is Safe. This is the opposite of any of my pistols. I don't like such and important function being backwards in my mind.

I got my hands on one yesterday. It has plenty of advantages over the P22 IMO.

the advantage is the slide will probably crack in half like my Mosquito's did after a few thousand rounds...

Ugly as sin. Nothing compared to a good condition "mark I" without all the "safety" crap thrown on. Now that was a great .22! BTW, I hear there may be a mark I for sale on this very forum at a great price! Who would have guessed...

The Sig Mosquito’s slide is made of 100% ZINC.

I wouldn’t be worried about the aluminum slide cracking on the Ruger. It has steel block inside that houses the extractor and firing pin, and takes the recoil very well.
