No lie, A plastic bucket full of change has saved my skin several times. I empty my pockets every day. 3-4 yrs of putting my pocket change in a bucket pays for a service grade Springfield M1, I need to pay for the shipping tho. Tuesday, the lady at the counter asked the security guard for help carrying my big bag of coins to the back room coin counter. I disliked when the gal brought my money to a different room. Next time I will use a branch of the bank that allows me to see everything.

So, in about 5 weeks I'll be wanting to hit the range?
I'm torn, I want a perfect rifle to collect, but I want a used rifle to shoot. Aw hell, I want one of each.

Well of course I want to shoot it, that's what guns are for! Not really fretting too much though, I just don't get as much range time as I would like (Don't we all). I can't really afford a collectible, so I figured I might as well get something that would be really fun... first.

I really, really hope I agree with you. Mike picked up my mail at about 3 PM. Just a matter of time for me now...

Where do ya get the cheapest ammo? I don't work for federal, yet, likely ever.

Thanks
Jeff

The CMP 200rd loose packed HXP is the best you're gonna do unless you start reloading.

You wanna be careful with Garand food and not try running too hot or too heavy a load through your baby. The M1 was designed to eat medium powered .30-06 M2 ball ammo. A 150gr FMJ bullet pushed out at a reasonable speed/pressure. You could also pick up an adjustible gas plus to swap out your USGI part. That'll enable you to shoot heavier\hotter without damaging your op rod or receiver heel.

Let me know when your M1 gets into town, I'm sure a trip to the range could be arranged!

I got a double handful of clips at the coliseum Sunday afternoon. Been dropping 'em on the floor to listen to 'em sing.

Scheduled to show up in less than 12 hours. :booyah:

Thank you, Pat, Wrench, Sawgrass,

I have it in my hands, I'm leaving to meet at BESA with hammAR for some rimfire instruction soon. I want to bring this rifle and function test it. I'd like to take it apart, clean, inspect it first. no time for that.
The card says Muzzle reading : 2, Throat reading : 2, hmm, OK.

serial number looks like 1954-1955 manufacture. I should probably run a patch through it before firing it up.

NICE! Run a patch through, and then make sure you do a detail strip and lube the appropriate parts. Also, check the main recoil spring for cosmoline, alot of times they've got a bunch left in there.

Have fun!!

Curious: how long was it from the "Order Received" email to when it shipped? I just received that email today, ordered a Service Grade Springfield and a can of the HXP.
