How can I get access to CMP guns?

Postby chunkstyle on Thu Apr 17, 2008 9:08 pm

I know there's a club or two around here one can join to make a CMP buy, can someone here set me up? I'd love to have a Garand or two...

Just letting you know, if you're current or retired military (any branch) that qualifies too, just need a copy of your mil ID or DD214

Dang, my ears are burning.

Here is a link to the CMP eligibility requirements to buy stuff. http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/eligibility_requirements.htm

Post 435 is a CMP affiliated club. (hint hint)

We start our summer shooting season Tuesday May 6th, 6:00 pm, and our annual service Rifle Clinic is June 14th. More info

If you have any other questions you can email me, Mark Havlik cmpofficer@post435gunclub.org

http://www.thegca.org/membership.htm

or just go to http://www.odcmp.com/Clubs.htm - they've got a list of affiliated clubs (I think it's searchable by state if my memory isn't messing with me this morning...)

former military counts for part of the requirements, but I think you still have to belong to affiliated club. I thinnk active military counts as an affiliation.

CMP is a great source - got some ammo and tools on the way right now. tempted to order another Garand to tinker with one of these days. Take a look at the forums as well - TONS of knowledgeable folks literally spewing great info on a daily basis!

The easiest club to join is the MN Rifle & Revolver Association.

Retirees and Active count for full affiliation. No other club needed.

Also active LEOs count too.

I fell into the former military but not retiree group and they needed qualifying club info... I chose the GCA since they send their member list to the CMP electronically (I think on a weekly basis). And they send a periodical magazine with some decent articles too.
