Which gun were you going to rent? I think this is a fantastic idea and I would like to do this for my impending 30th (eek!) birthday. I know NOTHING about the machine guns but I don't want to get something like an AK that I can beat down JoeGibs to play with.

So what does one recommend for me to get my giddy girl scream on about?

Whatever you do make sure you reserve well in advance.

I suggest the MP5, it's the Cadillac of machine guns. ;)

The Thompson.

Probably the most Iconic "Machine gun" ever. I rented one from Bill's for my Bachelor party and was treated like a king. Great customer service from the staff.

If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

I have shot both the MP5 and the Uzi at bills. I bought a case of 9mm ammo and put 500 through one and 500 through the other maybe six months later (a long time ago). IIRC, you have to buy your ammo from Bill's, so 9mm is the cheapest way to go. I personally liked the Uzi more than the MP5, mainly because there was less muzzle climb and the open bolt firing postion was cool. The MP5 is considered one of the best submachine guns but the Uzi has a little more personality, IMO.

i did the same thing for my 30th. it was friggin totally awesome. we rented the MP5 and the tommy gun. the weight of the tommy takes up most ofthe recoil, and the MP5 is the nicest shooting machine gun ever. both beautiful choices. i brought 10 people, from my 60 yr old father in law to a 90 lb soakin wet girly girlfriend and everyone had a blast with NO problem shooting either gun.

i've also shot an Uzi full auto before. another really fine choice. if the gun is a bigger (read: heavier than a handgun) in 9mm you'll have zero issues handling it. ammo is about the cheapest in 9mm too. more bang for the buck baby!!! :D
i do what i can, where i'm needed, and i ask so little in return. i'm a true humanitarian fueled by rainbows and whiskey. you should be so lucky to know me...

If it does, Strad hasn't returned the Tommy Gun to Bill's yet...

i was with him that day, i told the guy at the counter we were part of a special program for awkward, nerdy shut ins to reconnect with society and that in this severe of a case we deserved a free tommy rental. the video speaks for itself.
