If you order 10 boxes, its 16.99/box and about 25 shipping. 20 boxes is about 36 shipping.

Forgive me and my newness here, but who was 1911Fan and what happened to him and when/why?

I'll do my best to cover this question, since nobody else has.
1911fan was one hell of a guy, long story short.
Long story, long: Pete was a friend to everyone, probably knew more about firearms than 99% of the people you will ever meet in your life. Had more stories (most of which come to find out were true) than 100% of the people you will ever meet. He'd make a trip across the twin cities at 11pm to do a favor for somebody who asked, and then he'd refuse payment of any kind. He'd sit and chat for hours, he'd help with anything home improvement related as he was a highly skilled carpenter and plumber. Give the man a diet coke and be amazed at his work. All the while, you'd be certain he was telling you a tall tale, and then about 3 months later you'd hear from somebody else how that tall tale was actually true...
Pete passed away last year, in his fifties, entirely too soon. I can still hear his unique laugh, and see his smile with that kick ass mustache of his. The guy had a style and character that extremely few people have. I had the good fortune of spending some time with him for a couple years, and it sincerely gripes my ass that that time was cut short. Still haven't come to terms with him passing away.

He sounds like a heck of a guy and the world is a better place for him having been in it, and a sadder place for him having left it. My condolences to all who knew him. If only I were so lucky.

That was well said.
I didn't know Pete long, but in the last year of his life we became pretty good friends.
Spent a few night together at Alary's- not heavy drinking so much, as siting out front on the sidewalk patio watching the city go by until closing. He was something of an insomniac, and I had just lost my dad. It was great therapy for me, but it was Pete being Pete...
We got together once to fix someone's furnace.
He had driven from the U to Richfield during rush hour, I happen to be working sorta close, so we met up and got it figured out, set him up with some parts. During the 1/2 hour or so I was there, he got 5-6 calls, all from people looking for help, advise, etc.
Invariably Pete was ready to jump into whatever was there, and every conversation had at least one of those signature chuckles....damn...![]()
