Shooting Ranges?

Postby unknown on Tue May 15, 2012 8:17 pm

Hi there,

I am new to the forum and relatively new to minnesota. I recently acquired my first handgun, but I have shot and been around them for the most part of my life. Now I am looking for economical ranges to go shoot. I was wondering if anybody has been at the Burnsville Pistol Range http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/shooting_ranges/show_range.html?name=Burnsville+Pistol+Range It seems to be owned by the DNR and an economical place.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Shooting Ranges?

BPR is a good place. It's the range closest to me, so the one I most frequent. It doesn't have any creature comforts but they let you shoot your gun there. Prices are reasonable. No rentals. Employees have always been cool to me. But they don't let **** slide either. I recommend it if you don't care about ice in the urinals and some old guy handing you a towel after you wash your hands.

No creature comforts?? They have fine leather furniture from the early 80's, a big screen TV from the early 90's, and soda & candy machines. Oh, and generally clean restrooms.

It's also pretty nice shooting inside when it's -10 in January.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

If you go at the right time...... Well dang near anytime they're open. You have a good chance of seeing Vvrroomm there doing his comedy act. 8-)

Never seen the tv on. But then again, I have never seen the soda machine work either. The men's room was clean. But hell, what does a guy need other than a legal and safe place feed the glock and kill some paper?

Take a look at Bill's Gun Shop in both Circle Pines and Robbinsdale, though I wouldn't shoot there on the weekends. Too many crazies...

The Robbinsdale range is inside and 25 yards, and the Circle Pines location has a 50 yard indoor range.

Lot's of good and helpful folks.

Not only have I seen the TV on, I've actually got pop from the machine too. I like the place -- they watch for people doing stupid stuff and stop it.

I frequent BPR, it is close to my work so I go on my lunch break - as I did yesterday. Their prices are good, I have never had to wait for a lane and the people who work there are nice. I am thinking of buying a membership there.

I have shot at both places and prefer the crazies at Bill's...IN the last couple moths that I have been going there I have seen some really awesome weapons of mass destruction at both Bills facilities and enjoy shooting there...The boys are fun to stand around and chat with as well...

THe Burnsville place is a good place to shoot as well but to me it seems to be a little to mellow..I have only been there twice and I know I will shoot there from time to time...But in comparrison to Bill's there is no comparrison...Bill's wins hands down...

unless you value either your safety or your money, at least for Robbinsdale, never shot at Circle Pines. I've seen so many safety violations and never seen any employees come onto the range to correct it. Not saying that it doesn't happen but I've never seen it. It's also quite a bit more expensive than BPR.

I highly recommend the membership. I paid $135 for a year, which gives me 50% off of the range fees. If you go 15 times in one year, it pays for itself in savings, which you can then use for next year's membership.
