She got hers, now I want mine!

Postby promod1385 on Mon May 28, 2012 10:59 am

As many of you know this past weekend (just got back from the BW last night) I asked my girlfriend of 4.5years to marry me, and she said yessss!

Now since the beginning we have had an agreement "whatever I spend on a ring, she spends on a gun" I plan on keeping this one for the rest of my life and passing it down to one of our children. I want it to be a handgun and I want it to be in stainless.

I am really torn right now between a 1911 in .45 or a 2011 in .40 to shoot limited with. I already have a couple .45's and will be inheriting a nice series 70 Colt from my father some day.

What is everyone's input on this? What should i get?

Stainless 1911. I couldn't think of anything better to pass down to my kids, a truly timeless gun.

That depends.. how much was the ring?

I second that.

Go with the stainless 1911 .45ACP. Classic weapon. Classic Ammunition. Classy choice. Take it one step further and get it engraved with something special just for her.

Congratulations on the engagement!

Remember, the wedding ceremony is just one day; and while it's special, it''s every day before and after it that is truly special.

Ted Yost
Lew Bonitz
John Harrison
Ned Christiansen
Richard Heinie
Wayne Novak
Stan Chen

It's only money and along wait 8-)

I thought he was looking for a classic, not a gamer's space gun 8-) .

I never said I wanted a classic! Just something to keep forever. So any quality firearm should be a good fit for me.

I will have about $3k to play with. While the Limcats are nice I am sure they are close to $5k for a new open gun and I dont ever see myself shooting open. I have been having a ton of fun shooting my XD Tactical this season and think I would get the most use from a quality .40 2011.

I have my eye on a couple of used ones (One from Milenium and a Predator Tactical) both are good deal with a handful of magazines and the few features I know I want in a limited gun. Gotta see how these deals shake out.
