Price Check! Python, Model 19 and Colt Gold Cup Trophy

Postby johntherevelator on Tue May 29, 2012 4:32 pm

Okay, I'm curious on the approximate value of these three pieces. I've been offered a trade for my Trans Am, and it's hard to judge these.

The Python is a 6", nickel, made after 1978. No box, and some of the nickel is flaking off.

The Model 19 is also nickel, some scratches but no flaking. No original box.

The Colt Gold Cup Trophy is stainless, just says "Colt Gold Cup Trophy" on it, with a picture of a trophy. I think it's newer, the Serial number is GCT000XXX. Has a healthy slide-stop scratch on the frame, and on the slide (lighter).

Any ideas? I'd be looking to sell them.

Your car must be a POS 8-)

The Python is a 6", nickel, made after 1978. No box, and some of the nickel is flaking off. $600? Maybe a little more.

The Model 19 is also nickel, some scratches but no flaking. No original box. $550 tops, more likely $4-450

The Colt Gold Cup Trophy is stainless, just says "Colt Gold Cup Trophy" on it, with a picture of a trophy. I think it's newer, the Serial number is GCT000XXX. Has a healthy slide-stop scratch on the frame, and on the slide. $800 if not too fugly.

what's the year is the TA? are you driving a bandit? for some reason i picture almost everyone on this board owning a '78 TA with the big flaming chicken on the hood, sporting a jean jacket, combat boots, and a mullet. i was disappointed to find out that neither Strad or Shippy have any of the above... :o

the guns described sound like excellent shooter guns, but none of them sound like collector quality firearms. now, if your 86 Trans Am has a knock in the bottom end and mismatched wheels with multi colored door panels and a missing spoiler, TAKE IT!

The Trans Am is a 96, with t-tops and runs great. Here's my c'list post:

Not a POS, but not mint either.

very nice! if the firearms mentioned were a deposit, i'd go for it. however, if i had that car i'd be hard pressed to trade it off for MAYBE $2000 worth of firearms

Thanks for the input! I had thought the Python might be worth a little more than that, and the Gold Cup worth a little less than that. I know things are worth whatever people will pay, but I feel your prices are pretty accurate.

Wow I've always wanted a firebird. Any interest in a trade for a motorcycle?

Because this topic hits home for me, my apologies to the OP for the TA hijack this thread has gone down. Believe it or not, here's my '81 (via some crappy pics). Owned it since late 1985. My kids enjoy the casual Sunday drives in it these days.

That is AWESOME. And no worries on the highjacking, this isn't too serious a subject.

Yeah, I decided to not go through with the trade. Nice guy and everything, but he was going by the prices he paid at the store.

Of course I am. I almost had it traded for a 2003 R1 . . . before he came to his senses. :badmood:

HE came to his senses, and you DIDN'T?! i love a thrill as much as the next guy/adrenaline junkie, but those things are too damn quick! we call 'em ZOOM Splat bikes on the Quad Cam Bastards forum.
give me a hopped up Sportster any day of the week, it'll be more comfortable (even if, like mine, it's a hardtail with crappy forks) than a liter bike

Lol it's no sport bike, just a really nice Honda Shadow Vt800c. I'd throw in a benelli supernova and glock g26 too

I wouldn't crash it, I never ride reckless. I know it's a big engine, but just knowing I have the power if I need it is good enough! I'd like to own a Harley, but they're too expensive for me.
