Wait a min... you're saying the mall bans guns?

I've never seen a sign at any mall in my life!

Maybe its because my daughter always has my attention when she runs away from me.. its usually at the entrance.

Like others have said, it's a moot point, because there's nothing in the law that says they CANNOT post. Their postings are invalid because they - by our definition of a landlord - cannot restrict carry.

That said, I use one of two entrances at Burnsville Center, Sears or Dick's Sporting Goods. I have yet to see any signage at either of those entrances. So, even if the mall was legally allowed to restrict carry, their postings would be invalid, because the law requires that they post all entrances to the building.

So, from a practical standpoint, what difference does it make if the signs are invalid? They can still restrict carry, signs or not, simply by coming up to you and asking you to leave if they see that you're carrying. I view the signs as merely a courtesy to warn me ahead of time that if they catch me, they'll ask me to leave. As opposed to NO signs, in which case if they catch me, they'll ask me to leave.

OR do we as card holders simply disregard the signs and shop as we please. Only to force them (mall officials and or police) to ask us to leave?

Yes.. lets start harassing the mall owners to the point that they contact the legislature, as they have just a bit of pull with their tax money and the number of jobs at said mall, and get the law changed so they can post.. maybe even make it a crime to walk past the sign, just for good measure to keep those troublemaker gun carriers out..

I was trying to implement change in my company and said the squeaky wheel thing to my boss...he replied, "and sometimes the squeaky wheel is replaced,"

OK, so its not illegal for the mall to post, but technically it is not enforceable as the mall is a public place as defined in 624.7181 (c)

So why are they allowed to enforce it?

Yes each store has to post then it is enforceable. but not the mall themselves. So how does the mall get away with enforcing it?

Is it being enforced?

Were you escorted out of a mall for carrying? I haven't heard of wide-spread "enforcement" of their bans by mall security rent-a-cops.

No, I have not been escorted anywhere.

But the author of http://www.keepandbeararms.com/newsarchives/XcNewsPlus.asp?cmd=view&articleid=2795 was handcuffed, relieved of his weapon, brought down into the substation and detained in the MOA by the Bloomington police until they felt is necessary to let him go. At which point they escorted him to the parking lot.

That link is broken, but I've read that story before. He was open carrying wasn't he? Not a smart thing to do. Wasn't that also shortly after the MCPPA was first enacted in 2003?

I see no recent evidence that they are making a point to throw people out who are concealing. I'm sure we'd have heard about it occasionally if they were.

I will continue to carry concealed in places that are posted...If they ask I'll leave quietly...no comments or smart ass remarks...they just simply won't get my business:)
