Thanks guys for all the ideas, I can't believe I forgot about 1911s .

I really like the matching 1911 idea, but I am afraid the bride might not like it as much as the groom. Plus I've got something else clunking around my head for the bride.

I'm thinking maybe a gun he could either use for work, or carry on special occasions, depending on how he wants to use it. I'll have to get some info outta him without giving away my plans.

Thanks again, you guys never fail to impress.

As a 1911 guy, it hirts me to say this, but... BROWNING HI POWER!!!
Classy, good shootets, he might be able to carry it (doubt it though) and the important part is that not everyone has one! A CZ-75 would be nice too, but I think the BHP would be nicer in many ways
saying that guns kill people is like saying that spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.

if God wanted us to drink whiskey, he would have given us stomaches

I'm a little teapot...

I was in a wedding 3 weeks ago and we giften the groom a pistol. He had to wait a week until he got his PTP, but the dealer (me) held onto it for him until then :)

No better gift for a groom than something that goes "boom!"

If you do a 1911 (or anything else with side panels), you could also do custom grips with the dept., thereby retaining the original condition of the gun.
I also like the idea of a classy revo too!

I like the idea of custom grips. Not likely he'd be able to carry a single-action auto, though.

Small towns make their own rules, so if he gets hired at a small department, it's more likely. I'm trying to talk the Chief of a two man dept. into carrying his MC Operator. He's not biting yet.

I know this is an old thread, but there is news. I decided on getting him a Springfield 1911-A1 "Loaded" from my good friends at R&R Arms. Let me say, this thing is a beauty, so jealous that he gets it next month. :D

Does anyone know any good engraving places, hopefully one near the southeast part fot he cities? I've got a slide and two magazines to get done. Also, would the back of a 1911 mag be a good place for an engraving? Someone mentioned to me that the sides get beat up and wouldn't be a good place. Thoughts?

I thank all of you for your opinions and help in this thread.

I already purchased the firearm a few months ago, thanks for the advise though. I'll stop in if I am ever in the area.
