No, it made the member look like a butt head. I'm sorry, but unless I missed something, I cannot agree with you on the club looking bad. If the RO was correct and the member was being unsafe, I would say the club looks good because it is taking everyone’s safety seriously, regardless if the safety violator is a long standing member or not....

OK - I'll go along with that, but members shouldn't be arguing among themselves in front of public shooters, either ... We (members) all know - or we're supposed to know - that during public shooting hours the range officer is in charge .. whether you're a member or a non-member doing something wrong, you correct your behavior without argument.

Good point, though ..

I think it reflects positively on the club that, Member or Not, unsafe behavior is NOT tolerated. I've been out to Oakdale with my dad who is a new member, sat in on a Board meeting, observed a couple different groups (bullseye, novice trap) and etc... Oakdale is a VERY well run club.

There are times I have put on body armor to go to indoor ranges. I'll be going to my range at the cabin this weekend and I will have to worry about myself only. ;)

I have taken to standing outside the range for a few (to many) minutes on arrival to observe what is going on. If there are idiots present i don't go on the range until they leave.

I'm amazed there aren't more shooting accidents at gun ranges. I see irresponsible behavior quite often --- people waving guns in all directions, fiddling with their guns after a Cease Fire has been declared, walking away from a loaded gun that hasn't been secured --- it gives me the shivers. Even at Oakdale, where you might have three or four line officers on a single range, a moment of inattention or carelessness could end in disaster.

a GREAT idea. I also find time to fill mags, check equipment, make a trip to the snack machine, etc when new shooters arrive. Gives an opportunity to eyeball them.
