So no, I wouldn't consider this a hunting shotgun...but I do know of several people who use it for hog hunting down in Texas :)

It's not officially announced yet, but we have developed our "sporting" edition shotgun for hunting. Our 1216 is aimed more for personal defense.

Thanks for the comments.

250 yards is in relation to the Remington 870 super slug . I am assuming, based on your chosen name, your a rep of the srm company that made the gun this thread was originally about?? I would tend to agree with you on the 250. only real reason I mentioned 250 to begin with was the rumor it hit targets out to 250, being "OUT TO" key factor. in regards to other 12 ga this one is the rifle vs. meaning better range beyond the 75 ethical range of other 12 ga's.

and the tactics I was mentioning using the 1216 gun, is close in at a choke point in a valley. In an over populated deer area.

When I saw the vid for this gun I was thinking in terms of home defense first. Using either LE tactical low recoil hollow points slug for a home or fine bird shot for an apartment with people on either side to minimize (over penetration) minimum 2 - 3/4in Sheetrock , should be safe from over penetration as long as it is not point blank? I have not had a chance to willfully test it personally.

then firing in apartment would get you evicted. but choosing being dead vs evicted.....

Sheetrock versus shotgun even if its birdshot? Still not good. Here's some real proof, with NORMAL BIRD LOADS.

Even better vid, a "head' is used on both occasions, with interesting results, and proper for the time of year:

Interesting video's. Box - O - Truth came to a different conclusion re: Birdshot

I'm sure it comes down to what shot size and velocity the loads were. Regardless, using a firearm in an apartment is a logistical nightmare - should probably stick to Tasers.
