I'll pay a little more for product if I'm getting something in return. In a sense, that "little more" pays for the service, convenience, ambiance, whatever I value. Paying Gunstop Reloading an extra $.005 per primer is OK by me. I don't buy everything that I need from him. But I do give him some support by buying all of my hardware, powder, and about half of my primers from his business.

Everyone has their limits. I'll pay a local retailer an extra $50-$75 for a gun verses buying online and doing a local transfer. It's a convenience thing. I would not pay the inflated prices that some retailers charge ($100s more at times) especially since often times their service is poor and their staff is ignorant.

Price is only an issue in the absence of value. If that value happens to be immediacy, advice, convenience or scarcity, so be it.

For this reason I pay $3.79/gallon for gas. I lack the oil well, processing facility and storage to allow my own price controls.

I've paid a 30% premium above face value for concert tickets that have been sold out for months. If the thing I want (Nickelback tickets) were readily available for face value, thats precisely what I'd pay. In this case, a scarcity premium kicks in ONLY due to my desire. It is my behavior alone that drives the premium purchase price. Without my behavior, the seller would have an illiquid market and probably incur a loss. This NEVER happens with Nickelback tickets.

Fun fact - price ceilings are most commonly associated with the works of Marx and Engels.

Enjoy, Komrades

P.S. Nickelback was awesome!

In regard to John at Gunstop, I'll go in when I don't need anything, ask him a question about a project I'm working on, and then just go and buy something on principal. I could care less what the price is. The man is a reloading oracle, and that is why price typicaly isn't an issue for folks who shop at Gunstop. Sure, he's competitive most of the time, but even if he isn't, I'll pay a premium for good advice.

If you wanted to brag about going to a sold out show, I would recommend using Rammestein next time. You get to keep your man-card. :D

All of the Gunstop fanboys here on MNGT are a great example of this. They love the guy who owns the place and have no problem paying his inflated prices on things like primers an powders.

Have you ever even been to Gunstop? With a statement like that I truly doubt it. The prices aren't more than retail on anything I've ever bought there, and John's (owner) wealth of knowledge and freedom to share it is astounding. Also, no hazmat charges on anything you buy in the store unlike intrawebz purchases. The big guy behind the counter is an ass though. I won't even walk in if he's there and Johnboy isn't. I'm kind of amazed he still has a job.

Also fanboys is kind of a derogatory term. But you already knew that.... didn't you?

Oh yeah... I almost forgot. Gander Mountain sucks. ;)

Fan boy is a derogatory term? What is a better description? Enthusiast :???:

How about big boy?

'Big Boy' has shared a lot of knowledge with me, and has treated me well. I'll gladly go back to see him. .02

I read the Nickelback post and instantly knew what the rest of the thread would contain. I can't figure out how they are so popular despite the fact that they are universally despised. It's like trying to figure out why people still rock mullets.
If Democrats and Republicans, the U.S. and Iran, or Israel and Palestine want to get along, they should start by finding common ground; namely that everyone hates Nickelback.

I guess I can't talk to much crap about Nickelback, I did see them in concert when I was 15. But I was young and dumb! And in my defense, Chevelle and Hinder also played. Not that it makes it much better... :|

I've seen Rammstein and nickleback. I'll go to nickleback any day. The scenery is 1000000x better.
