I suppose if they were to ban knives, the gangs would carry lead pipes. Expensive, I know, but they would probably steal them from somewhere anyway.

Since i can remeber as a kid getting a hand gun was hard and expensive a right reserved for the rich. We grew up carrying knifes and Motorcycle chains as weapons of protection or when we were going to a diffrent town to chase women.

Now speed it up by 20 years implement the E.U.C and the country has gone to hell in a hand basket. If you look at all the imigrants that have since invaded to soak up the easy welfare of the liberal society ( Mn in 20 ). The gnags which you speak of are mostly immigrants from the former soviet union, Somali and the caribean and all are involved in drug dealing Gun crime is also very high as the people from the former ussr countries by them and smuggle them across on the car ferries etc and the Jamacian Yardies buy them to protect thier Money and drugs.

Drugs are a very big part of the culture in England as they have been in a recession for so long they just got integrated. And as we all Know by looking at our urban areas where drugs use is high so is the crime and murders

So in reality the story is no more than a bunch of media hype

Look up the weapons used at Brighton beach when the Mods and the Rockers met that will give you a good idea on how long the people have been carrying weapons.

I look at it this way, England tried for years to quell the IRA and its opponents in the North, using far more draconian methods than just a simple Ban and look at how poorly that worked out. The IRA was able even to pull off attacks in DT london, despite nearly all of the players being known to the Authorities. Banning does not work, stopping the causes of the violence is the only thing that works. Satisfied Civilians do not become terrs.

The culture and knifes goes way back. But more people are actually injured in " Glassings " where the weapon used is a pint glass. Many a time have i seen some one get a pint glass shoved in the face or slashed with one in the vicinity of a pub.

I'm kinda surprised that haven't legally mandated plastic beer mugs. In fact I predict they will, 'cause if they outlawed fox hunting, then tradition apparently carries no weight anymore.

I wouldn't be so sure. IIRC, the thing that really drove in the nails against fox hunting was when it was turned into class warfare against the toffs. Get between the working stiff and his need to get outside a lot of beer served the way he wants it after a long day's toil...

OTOH, I guess the working stiff's pretty much of an endangered species in the UK.

How can they outlaw the pint glass as it is traditional and none of the lads who go down to the pub will put up with it. Now prehaps at the wine bars they can get away with as the toffs go there. The working class man has a lot of pull these days
