That was touching. I wish I could take the praise. It was Seismic Sam who is doing the volunteer work.

I just happen to have a cute dog  Gin would be a very good therapy dog, he is really sweet. He is too mischievous and not well enough trained to get the certification. Plus he's really vicious. I saw him eat a rabbit once. Horrible.

My bad, sorry about that, as I said, it is emotional for me so please forgive my faux paus, Sam, but the words and feeling are meant, I just misdirected them at the wrong person. Egg on my face for that. Thanks to darnzen for the correction/clarification.

XDM45 - Yes, it was me and Sasha who have been working there for three years, and Sasha is about half dog, 3/8ths human, and 1/8th Archangel, and I'm not joking. Sometimes she does stuff that just make you want to put on a tinfoil hat and hide in the closet, but it's real however it happens.

Now, as far as timing, I went to Germany to help my wife move back to Minnesota about April 11th this year, and we spent 3 weeks in Spain on vacation before we came back on about May 6th. When was your dad admitted to OLP? If it was before April 10th, then we saw your Dad at least once, and if he was there in March there could have been several visits. I never remember names, and I never ask for last names, but I have a photographic memory for faces. So if you want to PM me a picture of your father, I will be able to figure out if Sasha and I saw him, and I may be able to add a few small bits about our encounter with your dad in his last days.

Thanks Sam,

I can't send files here and I can't access imgur from work to post it online. Email me your email address and I'll send the photo there to you.

I have cats, I completely understand what you mean about certain animals, but it itself is an entire conversation.

My dad died April 9th, went in there in March, so yes, you probably met him. I'll send the photo when I get your email. I'd love to hear whatever you may have.

I went to AA today and the place is well worth the trip. They had a Ruger SR1911, not a bad gun, but not for me. They had some Dan Wessons, nice as well. Good selection, they are still getting prices on things and for opening such a short time ago, have really come a long way. I was impressed. They even had my much-beloved-and-hard-to-find preferred brand .45ACP ammo.... MagTech.

Good staff, nice vibe, yeah, I will definitely go back there again.

It was already sold to someone, but they let me check it out since they are so bloody rare these days. Nice gun, but I didn't care for it.

I just visited for the first time today, and I can't say enough good things about it. Very good selection and very neat organized. Everyone was very helpful and cleaned up the drool after I was done. Love the shop!

Arnzen Arms - OPEN!!!

Postby yuppiejr on Sat Nov 17, 2012 8:56 am

Got a chance to pop in planning to browse...ended up buying up a pink Savage Rascal for my girls and some new Galco leather for my hunting pistol... Great service and prices, love the upscale look and feel, more showroom feeling than other shops and a smartly chosen range of products... $20 transfers...

I checked out AA yesterday with two other guys. I was very impressed with the service and the style they have set in place. They have very competitive pricing. The selection is great with all sort of variety. I definitely will be back there in the next couple weeks to pick up my new carry piece. Thank you for all the insight and a great new shop to visit.

Well, stopped over, Sasha walked in, and Gen walked over and it was like one dog walking up to a mirror. Gen is 5 years old, and kind of skinny, and wanted to play. I was afraid Sasha was going to hip check him into the showcase, but everything went fine. If you're a Samoyed owner and you have your own business, it's pretty much a given that you would bring your dog to work with you, so that makes perfect sense to me. Gen is the official greeter, so get ready to touch some of the softest dog fuzz you've ever felt when you come through the door.

There is quite a bit of variety at Arnzen Arms, and different brands of guns are mixed up in the cases, which makes looking around a little more interesting. I saw a genuine bargain, and it was a used Smith 500 2 1/2" snubbie for about $780 IIRC, and was labeled as a bigger and better carry gun. :P Dan, the owner, apparently has a sense of humor. I'm sure that gun was barely used, for the same reason that there were a lot of cheap used DE50's and 454's when they first came out, because of shooters with big egos and relatively small tolerance for muzzle blast and recoil.

While a lot has been made of the fact that this quality gun shop is close to Gouger Mountain, where the service is as low as the prices are high, it is in fact across 212, so when you go looking for it, Google the Eden Prairie Menard's, and AA is down at the far end of the row of stores from Menard's. They were just setting up for a Carry permit Class when I was leaving, so they offer that service too. Definitely worth the trip to check it out!!

The website says closed Mondays. Just an FYI, since I was gonna head over as well before I saw that.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.
