meh. Relax. Some places drag butt like Hennipen County....while others are exceedingly fast. A friend of mine lives in Farmington and he has his PTP in 2 days. See.... your experience is giving credence to my point that getting a PTC is the way to go. Renew every 5 years and then for the next 5 years you can purchase pistols as much as your wallet can afford.

Oh I'm not sweating anything.

When I dropped it off the officer who handled permits told me no more than a week to receive it. I assumed :D

My point isn't about sweating anything..... my point was (and is) that with a PTC, you don't have to wait. I'd rather renew once every 5 years than to renew every year. PLus, with a PTC, you can buy AND carry whereas with a PTP, you can only buy. I like options. I like not being limited (as much as I can be... I know everything has limitations. They can't be eliminated, but they can be reduced.)

Those instructors down in the cities are making a killing on the classes they charge...

My instructor up in northern mn only charges $75 for the carry permit class. Then $100 from the Sheriff's office... $175 for a permit to carry is a steal of a deal.

Are you certain it will be mailed?
Back when, in St Paul, I had to pick them up at the police station.

Range fee was included. Just had to bring your own firearm. If you didn't have a firearm the instructor borrowed you one of his. When my dad took his last month there was a guy who didn't have a firearm at the class. I was sitting in on the class with my dad. I let him use my XD9 compact. He shot it pretty well. Said it was his first semi auto handgun that he had fired. Always had revolvers.

How long ago was that? IIRC, I got my first PTP in 2003, and the city mailed it.

I remember quite distinctly back in the late 80s. I went down to pick it up and ran into a high school acquaintance in the dept. I don't recall how I was notified it was ready, or if I even was.
It could be that some of the last/ latest permits I got were mailed out.
