Long Range (Minimum 100 yards) shooting ranges near Mpls

Postby Drumrboy44 on Thu Nov 29, 2012 4:21 pm

Are there any shooting ranges (100 yards plus) near Minneapolis that are either 1) Open to the public; or 2) easy to become members of? I know Oakdale Gun Club's public hours are over now, and I am unaware of ANY Minneapolis indoor ranges that go beyond Bills North in Circle Pines, which is only 50 yards. I've looked all over, including the sticky posts here about ranges, as well as the DNR website, and others, but can't seem to find a suitable range. The members-only ranges I have looked at all seem to require being sponsored by current members.

I have a new Sako TRG-42 in .300 win mag, and I really, really want to take it out to 100.

Getting "sponsored" a the Faribault Rifle & Pistol Range is no big deal. The range is out to 600 yards. The club is taking new members. The membership runs March to March if I remember correctly.

I attended the Beaverbrook board member last January with my paperwork and dues but NO sponsor, asked to join the club.. was approved, walked out with my card & gate code the same night.

Rainbow Sportsmans Club in Cokato goes to 300 yards. I do a lot of shooting at the club and like it. I can take a guest if you want to try it out, you can help put some lead on the steel targets :D Depending on your location it may be a bit of a drive, it's worth looking into though.
