I was driving back from Mankato and stopped by Ahlman's... What a zoo, they normally have a wall full of "Black Rifles" and almost all of them were gone. There were 2-3 guys buying AR's while I was there.

Luckily they had plenty of powder and primers :D

I would have been very tempted to report her to the management.

I was in there over lunch and figured that I'd pick up one of their Daniel Defense M4s they had hanging on the wall. Price was fantastic. I figured if I had any plans to pick up another rifle in the next couple months, that this is the time. The NICS system was down, took around 30 minutes for the okie dokie.

Just out of curiosity, what was the price? I just built a Daniel Defense/RRA/Magpul M4.

What about after the ban is in effect & the other laws?

Will dealers be able to stay in business? Sounds like Everyone will have a gun!

Right now stocking up on Assault guns & accessories is a better investment than gold! Should be able to sell them later on for a tidy profit!

I waited a month for my Daniel Defense BCG. It was a good price at $145 (I think) and it just came on Friday.

As I was just telling Yuppiejr, a few minutes ago as I stopped by to deprive him of some stuff I need, and make my wallet lighter- This might be part of Obama's plan to fix the economy. Hey, even if it's not part of the plan; maybe it'll work.

The sky is falling!

I guess I'm blessed or lucky to have multiples of everything I need. Simple rules to survive/thrive in our hobby in all times-

When others are in a panic, buying like crazy, and dealers are adding foam and froth to drama- sell if you have a surplus, or stand pat and do not pay a panic premium.

When the world returns to normal (and it will) buy what you want/need.

When the world is bored, buy other people's surplus, extras, panic buyers remorses at a discount.

The Connecticut murders are a despicable and heartbreaking crime. The raw emotion that it has unleashed is powerful and furious. Committed media attention and awb trolls will beat this to a pulp. And eventually we will begin to heal, and life will return to normal for everybody but the friends and families of victims. Be patient and non-reactive in your demeanor and buying behavior. Word.

I am just getting into firearms this year, not because of panic, but because I am actually of age now to legally buy the guns I want. So, if I went in today to buy a gun, am I adding to the problem? Even though I am not panic buying, should I wait on making a purchase I want, or will that not really make any difference at all since I am just one more person?

Not adding to the problem, but if you have some patience to wait a few weeks, you don't have to worry about certain businesses jacking up the prices to profit on a tragedy.

FWIW - i was in both gun stop and arnzen yesterday and i was hard for me NOT to buy 6 guns - not because of panic but because they were so friggin REASONABLY priced! i was stunned at the price tags on a lot of what i saw. even for retail storefronts there were some screamin deals to be had.

gun stop had a PX4 storm with high end eotech and a handful of mags on the rack for $699

I was at the same two shops on monday as well. Would say things were anything bit overpriced. In fact id congratulate the op frankly. Man there were some competitive prices... if only i didnt live out of state.

The Gunstop has great prices, better than fair. Consignment deal is still the best in town.

Arnzen's Arms is a nice addition to the mix, likely sorting it out as they determine their culture. Hopefully as time goes on they will get a few more used guns.
Might need to reevaluate their consignment practices. It's a nice shop that isn't full of old shotguns, but it needs more soul.

I'm a little pissed at myself for not paying more attention to magazines along the way because I really didn't think they would become unavailable until this recent
mass shooting. Good thing my favorites only hold 7-8 to begin with.

The conversation that Wrench and I had driving to work today was that while the panic buying of firearms and magazines that might be targeted makes a little sense, I at least don't quite understand why primers, powder and other accessories were already getting a little harder to find since the election.

SGAmmo.com still has 7.62x39 ammo for around $220 per 1000. Get it quick. That wasn't a bad price before the feeding frenzy and its an even better price considering the circumstances.

I think Mike was just trying to give you guys a heads up, since he and I have met many of you personally. It certainly wasn't an attempt to profit from a horrible tragedy. Profit would require product, and product is something that we are lacking. More people in the store asking for AR15's, PMAG's, and 223 ammo will not help.

Panic is always driven by uncertainty, and just like the stock market, people act irrationally. There is a lot of uncertainty in the gun world right now, as you all know. For me personally, starting a new business has a lot of uncertainty, even without the politics. I am not planning on panicking, but I do expect to make many poor decisions. Hopefully I'm still in business in a year.

I must thank everyone who did come into the store for being patient with us. I'm very new to this whole retail thing and we're still working bugs out of our software, and getting our people trained. I saw many people having to wait, and while there are worse places to wait than a gun store, everyone's time is valuable. Though I have received no complaints, our service was not up to my expectations.

If it were up to me, everyone would spread their firearms purchases out evenly throughout the year. I disagree with the title of this thread. Now is not the time. Last month was the time. Now is the time to sit back, eat popcorn, and watch the circus.

If you have a gun addiction, the situation is not hopeless. We can fill your needs with pistols, revolvers, lever guns, shot guns, and bolt action rifles.
