apparently around here you'd be lucky to get $80 for it... but you gotta drive across the metro to me for the deal ;)

No, it;s $300 for $500 worth of stuff then the seller would make you drive to Roseville to get your money!

I've had a number of people this week tell me we're crazy for not listing some of these guns on GunBroker and making a lot more money, and not many saying we're charging too much. I'm pretty sure we're the last place around with AR15s under 750 bucks ;)

I think being able to hide behind the intertubes makes it easy to ask crazy money with a straight face. Also they don't have to worry about the reputation of their business (the garage?). Not that there is anything wrong with that, in my opinion. A lot of people selling online made some speculations and the market is in their favor this time. It could have gone the other way too.

I gotta side with Shippy on this one.

Believe me, I'm looking in the safe right now, and trying to decide if it's worth getting rid of a couple of AR-15's to fund a Baer SRP.

And it's not gouging, not by a long shot.

i still fail to see how the current climate is "price gouging"

this is panic buying. it's totally different. it's not like anyone who makes high cap mags and lowers and AR's is out of business and there will never be another. it's not like you can't wait 3 weeks for the supply chain to catch up and see where it's at. NOTHING states that this is a permanent condition, and if it is, that's the market bearing supply and demand.

you're not stranded in the desert 100 miles from anything and i'm not standing in front of you with a full gas can and a hard on.

not one bit.

You may have well be. I want an ar. I can't get one without doubling what it's really worth. It's a false market.

i feel for you. i really do. but....... it's not a false market. it's hard feelings. i'm not saying it doesn't suck. i'm saying it's irrational as a capitalist and by extension as a patriot as i don't believe that socialists or communists can be patriots.

where were you the last 4 years after the election price drop? where was the desire to purchase during the years after bush let the ban die? hard to say that the VAST majority of people didn't have opportunity and access when the markets were low/plentiful. hell, cabellas had DPMS Oracle's almost constantly in the lasy 3 years for $700 all day long.

ask yourself - are you one of the pure unfortunate few that JUST 4 days ago saved up the $749.68 it would have taken to get one and saw the market explode literally hours before you walked into the shop? or are you someone who wants one "because everyone else is buying them in a panic" now and you're upset that multiple buyers diminishing supply in a market raises prices?
i do what i can, where i'm needed, and i ask so little in return. i'm a true humanitarian fueled by rainbows and whiskey. you should be so lucky to know me...

My opinion.
Putting something up for auction and letting the idiots bid it up 800% over retail prices = Not gouging
Retail store, raising the prices on product you have in stock 800% just cause some idiots are over bidding on auction sites, when you know a you've got a shipment of 10K more coming on next weeks truck= Gouging. Call it what you want, but it isn't going to sit well with knowledgable buyers in the long term. Look at CTD as an example.

Is it price gouging? Perhaps...

But is price gouging really wrong?

Anyway, it doesn't matter once half of the people who bought this stuff at extremely inflated prices realize they're gonna have to learn how to use it... That'll be too much work so they'll trade it off for a bigger screen TV.

Buy big screen TV's while the price is low. When the dollar drops and the price goes up - The average American will be more than happy to trade their entire arsenal for one.

There is no such thing as a false market. A market is just that.... a market. If the market is false, go to the real market and buy PMAGs for $10 and PSA lowers for $69 delivered. If you truly believe that you'll be able to see that market again, by all means, wait. The people paying these prices are obviously betting otherwise.

Perhaps you're identifying an arbitrage. in that case, one would either sell into this market or short it, hoping to buy back into a lower market. (Shorting being a difficult strategy with firearms, ie the act of selling a gun you don't own and buying it back at a lower price at a later date.) The market can work for you as well as against you. The reward is only offset by the potential loss. This is the tangible component known as risk.

I know what you're thinking... all this talk of buying and selling is immoral and unpatriotic and isn't being a good gun-guy citizen. That may be true, but thats how markets work... of course I'm not the one who called it a market.

I agree with Shippy on this. Don't be haters. If you're offended by the price, don't buy. Mind your own business. Take a hike.

If you "know" the market is too high, either do something to benefit from it or choose not to participate. I've been in finance for 15 years now. Nobody I know has the clairvoyance to KNOW what the market is going to do. Nobody can accurately predict future events with any certainty.

On the other hand, if you do have this gift, please do know that Wall Street is hiring, and we could use a smart guy like you.

Alright, enough of this garbage. No more price gouging.

Will someone PLEASE just step up and do the right thing? Won't somebody just list an AR for $699?? A couple of used PMAGS for $9 each (Four for $30, but you've gotta meet me in SE Minneapolis). How about a WASR underfolder for $499 with six mags and 120 rounds of Brown Bear.

PLEASE! Won't just one of you pure, decent, honest folks list something in the WTS Firearms section at the RIGHT price?

Put your firearms collection where your mouth is, fellas. Mr. Price Complainer, real change starts with YOU.

To shippy. There was to many quotes to quote

It's a false market because nothing is happening but people scaring other people. And I'm actually one of the few people that was tryin to buy one last week before all the craziness. My posts here reflect such. Me and a buddy were gonna buy them together. He just finished his Leo schooling. He was buying one as a gift for himself and me the same after getting some time back from my first born.

Why didn't we buy years ago? Cause college age kids don't have thousands to throw around after family, house, etc. not trying to make excuses, no just explaining. We waited till we saved up to get the quality we were looking for in the firearm and in optics.

It's a "free" market then? Then why are so many people mad at ctd?

Thats a market.

BTW... in all seriousness, I do feel for you. I remember getting out of school and ready to buy what I wanted, only to find us smack dab in the middle of the last ban. What I wanted was unaffordable and I was disapointed.

Sorry bud. I'm not making fun. Its just... this is how markets work. In this case fustrating for those who want to buy, and great for those who want to sell. I've seen it both ways. I prefer the other.

How is it not a false market when mags get up to 60 for no reason and then drop the next day?

And I don't even mean to sounding like a cry baby. I'm not annoyed at the pricing.
I don't have to buy. I get more annoyed at the guys that already have 5 ars or whatever it is but bought everything they could find just cause they know they can rape somebody over the coals for it later. It's just agitating. To be honest if I found a good ar at a good price. I'd buy it and let my buddy have it. He deserves it more then me.

No reason?

They are selling for $60 a mag because people are buying them at $60 a mag.
