Over the weekend, my nephew and I ran 1,000 rounds of .223 through the LnL press.

Still have plenty of components but will try to restock at affordable prices.

And this ammo speculator may end up sitting on a pile of ammo that he can't sell for what he paid. I know of several that years ago bought up high capacity magazines at an already inflated price, later couldn't sell for anything near what they paid. We will see, but I think there is a good chance this will pass with little or nothing happening to effect gun owners except the panic buying.

i dont shoot it alot, but last time i did it still went BANG!!! i tear my rigs down after every outing so what does it matter what i shoot. If this dude is getting the ammo to people in other states that have no access and makes some cash on the side... whats wrong with that... i think most of us on here have plenty of ammo sitting in basement. Others have mentioned that this ammo has been sitting at FF for months maybe years and no one went after it. so who gives a F*%$. let the fool buy it all.

I was at the Lakeville FF last Sunday on an animal crackers run, and took the opportunity to drop by their firearms counter.

The severe lack of AR-related merchandise and .223/5.56 ammo there did not bother me as much as discovering that they've raised the price of their 28 oz. bag of animal crackers to above $4.

Ammo production will catch up with demand, it ALWAYS has. I'd be more worried about getting the rifles....as they're the thing in danger of being hard to fin right up until new production is banned. Just my two cents

I see this as a good thing, Fleet Farm had money tied up in the garbage green tins of Hot Shot that have been literally sitting there for over a year and will hopefully never buy the stuff again, this guy takes it in the shorts for almost $70 a can more than he would have paid a week or two ago when it was on sale and clears a bunch of panic buyers out of the market in one swoop. I can see F.Farm instituting a case limit on ammo as the market catches up with demand (would not mind personally) to avoid guys like this now that the garbage is out of the stores, however. If my semi-reliable source is right we should see the first bit of production catching-up from the election run on ammo shortly after the first of the year.... sit and wait, if you don't have enough on hand to keep up with your shooting needs this is a good lesson in why to make sure you do.

Just googled this:

4 Years 4 BILLION rounds :)

The Twin Cities Ordnance Plant (TCOP) was established in 1941 as part of the War Department’s government-owned, contractor-operated war materials production program. Federal Cartridge Corporation (FCC) was awarded the contract to construct and operate the plant, which resided in Mounds View Township (later apportioned as the cities of Arden Hills, Mounds View, and New Brighton) and whose mailing address was New Brighton, Minnesota. Construction began August 28, 1941, and production of .30 and .50 caliber cartridges began on February 2, 1942. TCOP produced more than four billion rounds by war’s end and at its peak (July 1943) employed approximately 26,000 people—more than half of whom were women.

Production ceased in July 1945, the Army’s contract with FCC was terminated in March 1946, and TCOP was put on standby. The Army’s Ordnance Department assumed plant management, renaming it the Twin Cities Arsenal on April 1, 1946. In response to the Korean War, the Arsenal resumed production in August 1950 when the federal government again contracted with FCC. In August 1958, the Arsenal was again put on standby.

The Army was reorganized in 1962, and the Ordnance Department was subsumed by the newly created Army Material Command. Consequently, the Arsenal was renamed the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) in 1963. In response to the escalating Vietnamese conflict in Southeast Asia, TCAAP produced small arms (1966-1973) and artillery shells (1967-1976).

MY mother and Aunt (twin sisters), who grew up in what is now Maplewood, both worked at the TCAAP during WWII, simple referred to then as 'New Brighton' or 'the war plant'. My mother worked in the manufacturer of 30.06 rifle ammo at least some of the time, as did my aunt.
Somewhere in a trunk full of stuff, is a newspaper photo, which might have been made into a poster, of the two, side by side on bullet presses, with the caption: " Double Trouble for the hun"

I remember her talking about the day FDR came though, how the security disrupted everything.

A: Gotcha
B: Not in .223 / 5.56, no, I don't. If I run across it, I'll post on here though of course.

I'm actually going to do a buy on some .45ACP after the first of the year.

The Romanian Hot Shot ammo isn't corrosive, but it is berdan primed. I don't remember it being particularly dirty either, except for the red sealant getting left behind; though it does seem to throw out a lot of sparks from a 16in barrel.

There used to be Serbian Hot Shot 5.56x45, which was boxer primed, and much better quality, sold alongside the Romanian stuff not too long ago. Though I don't think the Serbian ammo ever came in spam cans.

Ammunition will eventually catch up as the demand slows down. I will shoot my reserves at a slower rate until I see it coming back, but I know it will come back. Eventually, the rush will be done either because there is a ban and now no one can buy the popular rifles/mags or because the legislation failed and things return to normal.

Either way, the ammunition will be legal and eventually more available.

I have plenty of ammunition for my main firearms. I have a few firearms with little ammunition, but that's OK because my primary ones have enough.
