Like I said in another post: Finally found Bill's Hudson (It's BEHIND the Holiday Station where YOU CAN NOT SEE IT!! AT ALL!!) and they had an empty 12' by 50' long wall. Asked them about it, and they said they had sold everything off the wall, filled it up again, and sold all that too, in less than a week. You might as well drive around looking for a date with Jennifer Lopez, or worse yet, asking me a really dumb reloading question and expecting to get a polite answer... :( :o

So I just push the bullet down as far as it goes to compact the powder, right? Or fill up the case with powder to prevent the bullet from going in so far?

Even with all the ARs and AKs gone, Bills in Hudson was packed with people buying mostly pistols when I was there last weekend. The range wasn't too busy and we basically had one entire bay to ourselves during the football game.

After seating the primer with a hammer, I just top off the case with powder, give the bullet a few taps with the hammer, and use vise grips to get a good crimp.

A few days ago I got in a new Socom... I never put it on the wall... I walked around the store with it ... holding like a baby in my arms until someone finally asked... is that for sale... And away it went :(
I walked in the store yesterday with two ARs I had just bought... I walked in at 1PM with the rifles, they were out the door 10 minutes later.

Yea - they go kind of fast

Well...like I said earlier, neither one is a Sig 716 Patrol, but I'm happy nonetheless....

Any AK owners here have any suggestions about modifications and updates? I'd like to put the Krebs Customs modified safety selector on it. I'm also thinking about the left-sided charging handle from these guys http://www.dublinaksystems.com/purchase.html.

I'm not a huge fan of the left handed charging systems for the AK, but if you want it then go for it.

The Krebs safety is a nice upgrade.

The main modifcation/update I'd recommend is getting a way to mount an optic on it. There's Midwest Industries and their quad-rail handguard set up, there's ultimak for a pic rail replacement at the gas tube (word of caution: it generates heat quickly), and there's the old side-mount solutions. Again, Midwest Industries stepped up and makes top notch side mount rails for the AK.

Other than that? A good sling and spare magazines.

Thanks! I have a Magpul sling for it, and have ordered the Tapco replacement hand guard and gas tube cover (they worked well on the SKS I used to have and the price was right). I'll probably put a Vortex SPARC on it (which is what I have on my AR). I've also already put an AK74 style muzzle break on it.

I've been looking into stuff for AKs also. I can't stand optics so far away and like both of these.

Congrats! I kinda like them just the way they are.
-but-
From almost every bit of info I've ever come across, stay away from dust cover mounted optics. Go for the clamp on side rail mount.

Got some goodies in the mail today....still waiting on the polymer buttstock adapter...also have a 3 pack of FDE magazines on their way. I LOVE the Houge grip! I might have to consider putting one on my AR.

Bills Hudson has an Ambush Firearms (Daniel Defense) 6.8 SPCII - MOSSY OAK in stock.

They also had a Black Rain Ordnance Silver Skulls.
