Thanks, I usually still get the emails from Steve!

I'm really borderline on the winter league ... it's very close ... and not too bad, if ya dress warm ... but, shootin' with gloves on is kind of a pain ... and shootin' w/o is almost unbearable! :?

I've had good luck on that lake but have only been there twice.

Ya mean ice fish? ... no ... we only tried Centerville ... I should try it, though ... no luck on Centerville!

... then again, I usually have purdy poor luck, on most any lake! :(

We should make mention of the 1911's little cousin for the OP. The Browning Hi Power.
OP, they feel really nice in the hand too.

And no I don't own ANY of them. My last Purchase was a Springfield Pro and I'm waiting on a Guncrafter that should arrive any day.
My current favorite is a tie between a Les Baer SRP and a Colt that was smithed by Novak.

You're buying something from Guncrafter Industries?? Whatizzit?? Whatizzit??

I've lost my mind. It's a Stainless CCO.

If I don't get word soon that it's shipped I'm going to go sit in the hot tub and just drink beer.
Sam it's a .45, not a .50 but I'll let you shoot it, if you bring Sasha along.

That's the nice thing about this forum, someone is always willing to help out.
I get depressed when I sell a gun, so I stopped doing that.

I have two guys calling Dibs on the Guncrafter and I don't even have it yet!

In my experience the best way to get CJ is 208-772-2339
He has always been very pleasant to talk to and is very good about answering questions without being pushy.

One of the funnest 1911's that I have is a Stainless Springfield Loaded in 9mm, NM ser.#
I bought it from 45Badger on here and it came with a pile of magazines. It has target sights and is a favorite range toy.

IMHO, the "ultimate" 1911 is a Colt (70-series) Combat Commander (blued, "full" beavertail, arched MSH, no front slide-serrations) in .38-Super ... I had zero trouble dropping in a 9mm bbl ... the looks ... the feel ... the balance ... the handling ... why Colt can't seem to pull their head outta their ass long 'nuff to put out a run of these, I can't imagine?! :hammer:

... here's the "before" pic ... I'm purdy sure I had Ahlman's fit 'nother beavetail on there?! ;) ...

Sasha's eye is finally healing, and we may go back to Bethesda tomorrow. You will like the gun, and it's true old-world craftsmanship, and everything is absolutely PERFECT. The trigger is to die for!

What the heck have you got for a day job, considering the number of high end guns you have bought?? I'm jealous!!

BTW - with a heavier recoil spring, a 45 Guncrafter will handle 45 Super ammo!! With a shorter barrel, you can figure about 1150 FPS for a 230 gr. FMJ RN.

Well, what you REALLY want to do with that thing is get a 9x23 Winchester barrel for that, although depending on how new the gun is (last 5 - 10 years?), you may not have to even do that. A real factory Colt 1911 in 9x23 brings a real premium price, and it's also billed as "the ultimate" 1911. Unlike the 9mm, it can take you into the bottom range of Coonan territory (125 grain @ 1450 FPS), and it's not bad at all to shoot.

... either way ... .38-Super 'er 9x23 ... so long as I can drop in a 9x19 bbl ... I'm not a picky man! ;)

"Perfect" 1911 would be made in U.S., forged frame, "full" beavertail, no firing-pin-block "safety", internal extractor, and no front slide-serrations ... with a lifetime warranty!

No one makes it! :|

... well ... maybe ya could order a Les Baer?! :?

Fer this side of $1,500, closest to that's gonna be either the Colt, Springfield, 'er S&W ... at which, each has it's own shortcomings.

FWIW, I only ever have an issue with the firing-pin-block "safety" when I detail-strip (which most 1911 owners never do) ... front-slide serrations and an internal extractor are only cosmetic issues ... and a good cast frame will last a lifetime!

The only areas where I've ever been "bitten" (pun intended) were lack of a "full" beavertail ... and lack of a lifetime warranty!

Also, FWIW, I jest read a review on Remington's new "Commander" by Pat Sweeney ... he points out the poorly fitted beavertail ... at which, unless they can prove it sufficiently corrected, I'd avoid it, like the plague!

Also, FWIW, I've owned a Para ... and now a buddy owns a newer one ... I've also handled and shot Taurus 1911's ... they are most definitely not in the same class! ... Para makes a nice gun! ... not as nice as a Colt 'er S&W ... but nice! In fact, the 4.25in S&W not withstanding, their GI LTC is one of the finest carry guns, made today!

so of that list are they without target sights?
Someone had mention that I should look for without target sights and made a good point about. I have had good luck with other Taurus's as well as Springfields in the past. But i really like the look of the Ruger's as well.
