Sasha's eye is finally healing, and we may go back to Bethesda tomorrow. You will like the gun, and it's true old-world craftsmanship, and everything is absolutely PERFECT. The trigger is to die for!

What the heck have you got for a day job, considering the number of high end guns you have bought?? I'm jealous!!

BTW - with a heavier recoil spring, a 45 Guncrafter will handle 45 Super ammo!! With a shorter barrel, you can figure about 1150 FPS for a 230 gr. FMJ RN.[/quote]

Dave at DRC Firearms in TN talked to Alex Zimmerman who started Guncrafter Industries and just called me. Alex says this is the 'first' Stainless CCO that they have made and that it is flawless. NOW, if the other dealer who I bought it from would just verify that it's shipped, I will be happy. It helps to have a full time job, side work and no kids to support this habit. Thank goodness for reloads or I would be sunk. Great news that Sasha is getting better!

so of that list are they without target sights?
Someone had mention that I should look for without target sights and made a good point about. I have had good luck with other Taurus's as well as Springfields in the past. But i really like the look of the Ruger's as well.

The RO's got target sights! ... these are all 5in all-steel guns, too ... so best intentions aside, most anyone ain't gonna carry none of these!

Presuming this is basically a "range" gun, target sights are not only fine, they may even be preferable!

However, unless you're gonna shoot NRA Bullseye, seriously ... I'd say any of these are perfectly good "range" guns! ;)

If yer serious about a carry 1911, I'd take a very hard look at the Para GI LTC ... 28oz ... and ya can put "slim" grips on it ... only thing slimmer'd be a Sig P938 ... 'er maybe a Walther PPS ... otherwise, it'd probly be a .380!

That said, I'll never love 'nother 1911 like a Combat Commander (steel-framed 4.25in)! On the off chance, yer anything like me, ya'll wanna take a very hard look at a Springfield Champion, Colt Combat Commander, or ... if the rumors are true, the new Ruger Commander (which, if history repeats itself, will cost $1,200 for the next 2yr ... presuming ya can even find one! ). There's a good chance Para also makes a steel-framed 4.25in 1911?! IIRC, S&W does not! Remington has a new one, which I said, has an ill-fitted beavertail!

Get the Colt! ... front slide-serrations, be damned! ;)

... it means, if ya ever take it COMPLETELY apart (which, in all likelihood, will be many, many years from now ... if ever), a couple extra parts will fall out ... and, consequently, must be put back in! :|

It's also a "safety" which purdy much every other semi-auto pistol made since 1980, has!

So basically the perfect 1911 is the Armscor, but most 1911 owners are a pretentious bunch. They can't overlook the cast frame and the huge cost savings.

Nothin' wrong with an Armscor! ... it's on "the chart", ain't it?! ;)

I even own one! ... from before it was cool! :o

.... wanna buy it?! :?

Hey! ... if a guy's ok with the look/feel/whatever of a Philippino 1911, great!

... but on this planet, if it don't say "Colt" on it, it ain't no Colt! ... get over it! ;)

I am over it, Colts are great, and their name means something. like the if it an HD it aint **** crowd. As most of them watch my tail light disappear.
My main goal is to find something reliable enough to bet my life on it if the situation presents itself.

I have shot some of the carry models and with my hand size I prefer the feel of the larger gun, and asfar as carry goes, I am big man. Saving the few extra ounces will be like throwing a deck chair off the Tittanic.

LostTiny202 that's a funny post. I needed a laugh too. thanks.

In all honesty you are going to have to read and try a few guns. Hell I've gone through a lot of 1911's.
If you go look in my holster you will see a Glock 19. Whatever you end up with, you have to spend time at the range with it, in order to trust it.

You could try going to the Gunstop and chatting with Larry. All of the gun guys around the metro are great, but he is a one guy
shop and I believe that he is as honest as the day is long. He will answer your questions, and let you hold different guns.
Good luck to you, and I hope that you find the perfect 1911.

Wasnt the 1911 on one of the recent proposed gun ban lists?
