Oh yeah, I agree with another poster in this thread...Wells Fargo is WAAAAAAAAYYYYY too chatty with their false interest in "what the rest of my day" is going to be like. A simple "Hello" and "Would you like large or small bills" is more than sufficient.

That's funny! :D I agree re: Wells Fargo too.

I need a step stool at Bills. The stack their guns like a bar. Good stuff on top, at least the 1911's.

I don't go there to discuss 'how my day's going so far', or need the assurance of: "excellent choice" when I ask for a large ( not venti-shamenti) coffee. ... but that's justa me.

+1

Many times when i head into a gun shop, i am just window shopping. If I start handling the guns, my wallet jumps out of my pocket. If I need help, or want to see something, i will just ask.

Interesting to see that some want to be catered to immediately and fawned over, while other 9like myself) just want to browse. Ultimetaly, vote with your feet, and find shops that suit your shopping style. plenty of options out there.

Yep the GM in Blaine will ignore you. But my biggest problem there is the lack of counter help.
You can walk in there and 8 guys will be standing at the gun counter and they will have 1 guy working the counter and another two milling around.
Doing anything but helping at the counter.
On the other hand Fleet Farm on 35W are ready to help you and generally get more counter help if they need it.
They cant always answer your questions . But they do try and find out for you. Plus they put the gun your interested in fondling in your hands!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Fleet Farm, but they usually only carry "low end" guns....fine and dandy if that's what you want. Mind you, I have only bought ONE gun at GM and it was on sale at the time. I just like to go in there to look around.

My point wasnt that I wanted to have a staff member hovering or right there to fawn over me. However, at least a "How ya doing? Let me know if you have any questions." would have been nice. It is called acknowledging your customer and goes a long way. It also helps the counter guy to gauge if it is a tire kicker or serious buyer. But to not say a word and just keep bs'ing with your buddy just makes a lot of people spend their money elsewhere.

Either way, no skin off my arse...there are other shops that do provide good customer service.

My recent buys:

1 FTF
3 @ Fleet
2 @ Gander

BTW, does everyone know that Gander price matches? As long as it is. Brick and mortar store within 50 miles, they match. It saved me $40 on one purchase!

How do you save money on a price match? Do they do a 110% match or something?

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I showed them a price (on my phone) at Fleet Farm that was $40 less than theirs and they matched it on the spot.

Then you didn't save money. You just bought at a different store for the same money. ;)

Now you never know. It's possible it could have cost him $40 in gas to drive to Fleet Farm, thereby saving him $40.

Sorry I mentioned it. Just trying to save someone a couple bucks and maybe some time if you know what you are buying. I wont volunteer things like this again. GM is 3 miles from my house and the nearest Fleet Farm is over 25. While I didnt "save" money I saved time and gas.

Don't be sorry. I was being serious when I asked if they had a 110% match or something. That would have been huge.

Ya just gotta speak up. Larry is always busy with transactions or working with people there.

If you're a polite normal person and say something, he will help you as soon as he can.
