Someone who wants to buy favors from the ruling elite, it happens in authoritarian states all the time.

Umm... he was granted stock options as part of his work on the board of directors. Many people have AAPL stock options and probably raked in the same benefit.

LImiting the power of government would have no impact in this at all.

It's no wonder this country is in such a sorry state, with so few people even understanding the concepts of freedom and free markets. Yeah, it sucks when government interferes with the market causing artificial price spikes, what sucks worse is when products you want or need aren't available at all.
I will never apologize for being an American.

I didn't realize algore was on the Apple BOD.
Stock options are an agreement between private entities; it's their own business.
Yep,
Limit the government's power to control and the value of algores influence plummets, and people are closer to being free.
A win/ win.

Another thing I really hate is when businesses try to sell their goods and/or services for more than it cost them to provide to our good citizens. Why do these companies think that they can make a profit off of us just because they have something we want or need? What if I don't make enough money to buy what they are selling but I still want it anyways? Don't I deserve it as much as those rich, greedy, fat cats? I think that any money a company makes above their cost should be divided up equally between all of their customers and mailed out immediately with a heartfelt apology letter. Same for the greedy price-gougers selling guns, etc at inflated prices right now. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.

For those folks getting twisted about this--if you bought gold a few years back when it was $300/oz, and sold recently when it's $1600/oz--would you feel like you were "preying" on the buyer? If not, why not?

No but I do get bent when guys like Al Gore buy $500 a share Apple stock for $7.48 and then sells it at market to make millions. You want o fix our economic market stop crap like that.

Not fair, is it? He's not paying his fair share. We should pass laws that make that kind of thing illegal. Capitalism is unfair to the average American, the 99% of America that isn't a millionaire.

I agree.
We should outlaw free markets and auctions, etc and have the government set prices..That should work, right?
Rather than buying guns, ammo, and loading supplies on the free market let the government handle distribution.

Very good point. Al "Gorezeera" is the perfect example of a crony capitalist with all of his carbon credits and offsets.

My head is going to explode. I am having a tough time telling the sarcasm from the whining from the ignorant. I'm pretty sure I saw it all here...and for the love of God, only the pink pony was clear to me on first read. :o

Yes but at the time he joined the market price was much higher than the $7.48, Current accepted accounting practice is to grant options at the market value on the date of the grant. These were options the company owned and basically gave him as non income way of inscenting him to join the board which as been questioned by numerous fruad investigations.

And tell me what expertise the idiot adds tot he borad other than being able to grease the legal wheels on Apples endless lawsuit saga.

And yes, tman is absolutely correct in his assessment. This still was the best thread in weeks here. ;-)

Can we get a list of all the people who don't want free market pricing?

I need to update my do-not-sell-to list.

Why add to the panic, why prey on the public. I don't think this website was ever about that. It was for the common good of our hobby. Free market is a great thing, and demand will dictate the value of something. But if we perpetuate the problem, who or what is really the problem. When the shoe is on the other foot will you be the one to complain? The people who are doing this will be remembered. lets be reasonable, polite, and do our part to get things back in line again. Goverment driven panic without a solid action by them should not severly modify our perspective of freedom, lifestyles, or the interactions with each other. Play fair, and be nice to each other. If you poke me in the eye I will probably do the same. lets put this fire out.

Why? To make money.... obviously...even on this site ;)
