Exaggerated prices, exaggerated panic.

VV- merely my attempt at 'down' arrow. Just as it did last month, any spike in demand will result in higher prices.
If you expect to wake up someday and suddenly see isles and isles of .223 ammo.... Well, good luck with that.

I"m just dreaming about the reckoning that will come when 3-6 months from now all the manufacturers pump supply to catch up with demand, especially after it is obvious that the majority of regulations that were feared won't get passed.

All these clowns will get stuck with uber expensive parts and there will be a glut of merch from every fly by night manufacture who wanted to get in on the gold rush.

Assuming the political maelstrom subsides, no doubt down the road the market will deflate, as fewer and fewer continue to attempt hoarding, either because their fears subside, or they're satisfied with their stash. But there will be many, ' I'll-be-ready-the-next-time' entrepreneurs who will salt away an inordinate amount of ammo, and parts as an investment. This will stress supply, and thus maintain prices for quite a while. i'm guessing 2 years before ammo shelves are flush, and ARs are readily available at retail any day of the week.

Just imagine if you were in the middle of an AR build, like me.

I'm waiting for 2 measly lower parts from DPMS. They sent me my whole order, except 2 things.

My upper already had a 18-20 week wait, Newtown happened 3 weeks into that, so hopefully I still have my place in line. It's only an upper anyway.

Sell now, buy then. This will be more entertaining than the real estate bubble.

I love all these guys comparing it to buying gold 10 years ago or stock, there is one HUGE difference. You can't still go to places and buy gold at the price of 10 years ago same with the stock. Ammo and guns can still be had at retailers at the right time on the right day. BTW my FS thread with ammo and mags was to prove a point to a member trying to get rape people that he claims to be friends with and well liked by.

Back in my day, candy was 5 cents and we walked uphill to school, both ways.

I find the funniest part of this whole discussion to be people's attention span. Everyone is so upset as if this hasn't happened before. I turned 18 mere months before Obama got elected for his first term. I had 3 or 4 months of old school prices: ARs for $600-800, AR mags for $10, 5.56 for a quarter per round and .223 for less than two dimes.

And then BOOM. The AR I bought for $650 sold for $950 about 3 months later, I nearly doubled my money on my AK, and I traded a couple cases of .223 for an SKS, a Mosin, and a case of ammo for each.

This has happened before fellas. Although it seems to be worse than it was the first go around and although prices never quite dropped back to what they were pre-Obama, this is not the end of the gun world. Markets fluctuate, that's just how this system works. Don't be upset at the guy trying to sell a crappy AR for $2 grand, just be patient, wait a few months, and buy a better one.

I will continue to stop at fleetfarm daily and when available buy what me and my friends need at retail vs. paying the "new market value" on the interweb. I have yet to get AR-15 mags from there but usually can snag ammo once to twice a week on various calibers.

I won't lie, I was really tempted to sell my WASR-10 when I saw them peaking on GB for $1200. Could have funded a new Eotech XPS3 and magnifier with cash to spare.

Glad I didn't though.

Well, some are coming to their senses. I found 223 ammo here: http://www.bulkammo.com/rifle/bulk-.223-ammo They have it listed at ridiculous prices, and no one's buying. This same stock level has sat there for at least 36 hours.
