What's 'racist' about that comment?

The fact that general trust and the good of the common man is no longer the norm....THAT is social decay.

No, it isn't.

Bad things have always happened. They just happen to be happening less these days than in the past.

Placing cameras to record bad things isn't social decay. It's technological progress.

When there are so many bad things happening in that spot that cameras are required just to get a handle on things....um, yeah...that's decay. Happening less nowadays? Really? So in that Minneapolis neighborhood in 1943, 1953, or 1963, the gangs where slaughtering people wholesale as opposed to now? Oh wait, in 1943, 1953, or 1963 those neighborhoods probably had stable family units and NO gangs. So um, Heffy....stuff it.

That neighborhood? No. Things change. Places change. The problems were elsewhere back then. Now they are there. There just happen to be fewer problems today than there were in the past. Per capita, of course.

Per capita...ok, you got me there since the USA is a magnet for immigration and the population has swelled in the last 40-60 years. An increased population will trend the percentages of "bad stuff" downward even though the actual numbers may be increasing. Simple math.....deceptive, but true.

The rate of population increase has also decreased. The rate of increase has dropped a bit, while crime rates have been absolutely slashed.

The point is, talk of "decay" is completely inaccurate and just used strictly for rhetoric with no actual factual basis behind it. Rabble rabble rabble, if you will. Or herpa derpa if you prefer. Decay... lol. Funny hearing people talk about that. Makes you wonder what America they see, cause it isn't the real one.

Fine. I'll leave it at that as I don't have the time nor inclination to look up stats. I'm stating my opinion from watching things around me...here...in MN, not AZ. Obviously, you are entitled to yours. As some testifiers at the gun hearings here have stated..."I have skin in the game"....So do I, and most of it has nothing to do with guns.

By your lame response I can assume you actually think our gov has our best interests at heart, is that correct?

There's a universe of room between what you said between your two comments. The tinfoil hat stands.

I'm afraid those who have said that society has not decayed have a too narrow view of decay.

Social decay within the western culture is clear when society as a whole is perceived, particularly in what society values.

A few simple questions should illustrate:
- Has the quality and dignity of our entertainment improved over the last 50 years?
- Has the quality, rigor and excellence of our schools improved over the last 50 years?
- Have the fine arts improved over the last 50 years? What about dance, sculpting, painting, and acting?
- Has our music progressed towards reflecting the dignity of human or the savagery of animals over the last 50 years?
- Has our work ethic and desire for excellence in our labors improved over the last 50 years?
- Have our sports and hobbies retained respectability over the last 50 years?
- Have our communities retained their common bonds and willingness to self-sacrifice for each other?
- Are we more eager to help a stranger or flee from a stranger?
- And a thousand other things.

^ is what "decay" looks like.

So answer the question, do you think our government has our best interest at heart, yes or no?

Keep your tin foil hat on. It looks good on you.

In my opinion, no. There's too much proof to confirm that.
