Yah, that was my initial thought. What's his point? ;-)

Those publications are reasonable. The first one is a action plan to quell unlawful uprisings, the second came from the craziness with the Soviet Union but ultimately didn't pass.

Of course there is an action plan to stop groups from sowing anarchy. I don't see the big deal in this. Its the same thing as having an emergency savings account. You pretty much HAVE to have one although you really hope you don't have to use it.

The second one didn't pass. I could propose a bill saying that horses should be US citizens and need to be kept in gold stables... no one would vote for it

Maybe you haven't pitched your ideas to the right people... ;-)

I actually hate horses. The 3 times I have gone "riding" they've tried to kill me. I'm proud to say that I've been equine-free for nearly 15 years.

Seriously??? The government has their own best interest at heart (at the taxpayers expense).

Watch yourself. The horses of today will kill you ten times faster. Those long faces have been watching Jersey shore, so they will probably get drunk and try to have sex with you first.

They do at that. They want to get reelected. I however, don't see why that's a problem. Isn't the goal of democracy to have a government representative of the general population?

So using logic,...If a senator wants to be reelected , he needs to make his decisions based on the thoughts and ideas of the people he is representing, otherwise they won't vote for him because he broke their trust. Trying to get reelected is the same thing as letting your vote (as a senator) reflect the views of the people. Why is this a problem?

Why is that relevant? We don't have a democracy.

Look at the current crop of political hacks we have in there now and the people who voted them in. We have an "American Idol" president and a trust funder governor. Vaclav Havel said that America will survive Barack Obama but will America survive the people who elected him.

If people paid as much attention to our government as they do to reality tv or team sports . We would have a far better representation !

I'm going to say yes, but only because I want to see where you are going with this.

THIS is the point though. The government IS a democracy. It is 100% a Government of the people, by the people, for the people.

How is it Obama's fault that "the people" may be misguided? To me at least, this is the point. We need to stop blaming the government and conspiracy theories for everything and take a look at ourselves. We are the ones that made it this way.

The point is, the people are indeed being misguided. Misguided by Obummer and the rest of the liberals who are showering the masses with government freebies and offers of joy and bubble-blowing unicorns to make their lives easier. Their main support base is purchased. The people are not voting for the principles represented by these folks, they are voting for the perks they bring. Couple that 'purchasing' effect with the fact that the opposition hasn't been able to put up a worthy opponent in two cycles and you get what we got. The fact so many can be paid off to vote might be a sign of the demise of the nation but I think we're not so far gone that if we found a way to stop the big-government freebies and offered a true leader as an opponent eventually the majority would revert back to wanting some honorable representation based on principles.
