The government is supposed to be regulating something with the powder in the near future. Not sure what is being added or taken out. But i heard two stories on this. One is that the powder is supposed to break down in a year. And the other store told me that the powder will break down in 5 years. So the government is buying up alot of "old stock" because once this passes legislation, then companies will be building new ammo with the new regulated powder. It's supposed to help keep people from stockpiling ammunition. They figure nobody will want to stockpile it since the shelf life will be either 1 year or 5 years. Whichever it is. That's basically what i heard today on it.

It sucks. But the place i buy ammo from is fine. I stopped in today and bought 400 rounds of .223

This is the same BS rumor that was circulating back in the 90's during the Clinton administration, only back then it was primers. It would be easier for the government to ban the sale of smokeless powder to the civilian market than reformulate it to breakdown after a few years.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Gotta agree with the Ripper on this one, that is absolute nonsense. Most of the stupidest things I've ever heard on firearms-related topics have come directly from the mouths of gun store employees. With very few exceptions, I try to ignore just about everything they say...

Probably just bought it all for practice/use.

After all, they get unlimited budget, unlike us. So they don't have to get those "wimpy" FMJs for "practice" and then carry the JHPs.

Just more government waste at its finest.

Fleet Farm. Fully stocked. Limit 250 rounds per caliber per day per person.

Where is this Fleet Farm? I even called stores as far north as L & M in Virginia, MN and I haven't found anything - especially in 22lr..
