Haven't been stopped while driving my truck, but I have been questioned about open carrying before. Police just walked up to me and asked "Do you have a permit for that?" I showed him my permit, and He said "Thank you sir, Have a nice day" Not giving me a hard time, just checked. Was really surprised how trouble free it went.

Been pulled over 5 times since having my permit in 2005. Every time I had at least one on my hip. Never asked, never offered.

For the record, 2 tickets & 3 warnings.

After learning some hard lessons due to my offering information freely to those in authority, unless required by law my mouth stays shut.

Best advice ever.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Yeah, it is.

Unfortunately, too many feel that doing so is an invitation to the greybar motel or incriminating so they open their yap and bury themselves.

"Why didn't you tell me you were carrying a gun?"

"You didn't ask."

Not really a conversation I want to have with a Cop.

never been stopped - but son has been stopped 3 times and been thanked every time for including his permit and that he is armed.

Holy crap. I've never been pulled over (in my car/truck) in my life, and I've been driving for 31 years.

Kinda thought some one would say something about being pulled over 5 times in 2 years. What can I say my new Silverado has the 6.2 liter 406 hp :)

Yeah, these guys that have been pulled over 5 times in 2-3 years makers me wonder....how's your situational awareness working there? That's a point well stressed in any any gun course...be aware of your surroundings. That should also apply while driving. You should be paying enough attention to your driving situation to notice where the speed traps are (cops like to use the same hiding places along the roadside over and over) and also what's in front and behind you at all times.

I wouldn't of told him I was carrying if he didn't ask me. He was appreciative afterwards.

This I'd my first time getting pulled over for a headlight.

If you are going to disclose, avoid saying things like, "I have a gun!"

Is it okay to tell them you have a plan to kill them if they threaten your life? I too have plans, but tactical nuclear devices are hard to come by.
