2 weeks ago, I placed an order directly with Hornady over the phone. Still crickets. No shipping notice, nothing. She said it would get out quickly, and I should see it in a few days.

Brownell's has always been top notch in my book.

I'll give them another shot for business after things settle down. I know everyone is feeling the pressure, and Brownell's did get me the XDm mags pretty quickly, Luckygunner the .45ACP ammo, it's just the computer things and the lack of communication irked me.

Regardless of when he did, my reply as a Brownells employee would be something like "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, would you like to cancel your order, or wait for your back order to be shipped?"

That's exactly how Brownells should have handled it. He's not the only one who has ordered anything there, not the only one waiting on merchandise, probably not the first one in line, and probably not the biggest order either. This whole backorder and everything else isn't fun for anyone. But your not the only guy who is waiting on anything. We all are. But, what good does it do to bother them a couple times a month? It won't help. Now someone has to sit and read and reply to your email. When that person could be processing orders. By bothering them, how do you know they don't push you back a few more spots in line? You don't know that they don't, or that they do, but i know i wouldn't push my luck. I would place my order, and when it ships, you will know about it. Don't bug them, and for sure don't whine about it. It just makes you sound like the 3rd grader who just had your french fries stolen by the big bully.

XDM45 wrote:Neither of those two things were addressed and just the standard line was given. I KNOW they are swamped, I KNOW they are back-ordered, they communicated, but they didn't communicate anything of value that I didn't already know, in short, they didn't do anything. They replied to an email, told me something I already know, and that's it. No update, no addressing any other concerns, nothing.

I ordered the stuff back in early January 2013.

If they didn't update you with anything of value, then there was probably nothing of value to give you an update with. Do you expect them to go to the manufacturer and pull your products off their bare shelves? If the manufacturer doesn't have an ETA on stock, how is Brownells supposed to give one to the customer? They are one company trying to serve millions of people with products that are very scarce. Manufacturers are not exclusive to Brownells, the manufacturers have to fill the shelves of other companies that are trying to serve the same customers that are shopping at Brownells. They should not have to send you an email saying your order is still not in stock. It's on backorder, they will ship it when it becomes available and send you a shipping confirmation.

Except the 6 mags I ordered :)

They won't let you cancel your order? If you're upset enough to start a thread like this, shouldn't you also cancel your pending order?

If I could get them locally for the same price, I would. Bill's has them, for a lot more money. Besides, I've waited this long already. It just sucks about the communication and the jacked up computer system.

Look at it this way, they probably have thousands of people that have stuff on back order and you expect them to go through that entire list to send out emails containing updates on their SPECIFIC order. Even if they did that you still won't get your items any faster so what's the point? You'll get your order when you get it and I'm sure their doing everything within their power to get orders out so they can complete the transaction.

Yep.
Maybe every raw material supplier, component manufacturer, producer, distributor, and retailer should take the necessary people off their normal task to promptly and thoroughly answer emails .

That should help everybody.

Times like this you just place your order, and just figure you'll see it in a year. And when it shows up in 3 months, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I have a couple bull barrel uppers on order from Red X arms. Sure, it would have been great to have saw one of them last week since we just had a full moon last night for coyote hunting, but you know what? They will get here when they get here. I STILL HAVE OTHER THINGS I CAN USE! IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. I'm not going to bother them because they don't need to hear from me. They need to continue to work to push things out the door for people who ordered ahead of me, because the sooner they get their orders out, the sooner they will fill my order. I know i'm not their best and only customer. And i know that others ordered ahead of me. I haven't had any other notices from them other than an "Order Confirmation Notice" and that's all i care about, is that my order was confirmed. I also have 2 uppers on order from DPMS. Don't expect to see them for a year to a year and a half. I don't need all of these uppers right now, but i figured whatever comes first is what i will use. The other ones will just sit in the safe until i decide to use them up for something. And i'm sure at some point i will have ordered more anyways. So i'll just order from a few different places, and whatever shows up, shows up.

I check luckygunner everyday a few times a day for ammo, and have ordered stuff just about 3-4 times a week. Even though i don't technically "need" it, i will order just to have it. Sure, some stuff is high priced, and some is fair, and some is low. But i do have a decent average price. Steel case .223 ammo priced from .27/round all the way up to .90/round. So that's a .59 average. Don't care to shoot steel, but i just learn to clean my gun more often. Have brass from about .60, all the way up to 1.20/round.. Still a .90 average. When prices go back down, which they will at some point, might take a year or so, but i'll buy more then at that time. Just gotta keep my average low. But i will order and buy from anywhere. Whoever has what i'm looking for or can get it. But it just shows up when it shows up.

Funny, some of you bitch about petty things like posts being too lengthy... here someone is venting a little frustration and he's chastised left and right by those same people.

Weird.

Thanks for the support Thunder.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that no matter what I post, someone will piss and moan about. Length of it, what I say, how I say it, etc. meh. Whatever. I'm not going to get upset over it.

Like I've said, the two things that upset me the most is the lack of communication and their eff'd up computer system, both of which are their fault.

Well, I finally got a shipping notice from hornady today. So at long last I can use my LNL-AP for making ammo again...

Yes, yes - we get that you and XDM are pals. It's not our fault that your pal is super-annoying.

What exactly do you want to see on here? This is the Internet, not the Library of Congress...
