I had the AR lower on my list than something else when I came back to shooting. Then SH happened. I don't "need" one, and I will wait until I can get one in the $800 range.

Yep.
Just before the election, I reluctantly paid a bit over $1k for a Colt 6920. Thought it a bit high at the time, but speculation was starting to kick in.
Put it in the back of the safe. Didn't then have the time, and now the inclination to shoot it.
Only I wish I'd bought 10 of them.

It all comes down to Caveat Emptor. I am still building rifles and finding good parts for somewhat decent prices. Also there are complete rifles for close to pre-crisis prices out there. It's harder but patience is the key. This stuff happened overnight back in 1994 as well. However back then the modern sporting rifle was not qute as popular nor ubiquitous as it is today. I hate to see the high prices and this hyper inflated market but with patience we hopefully will see the dust settle and some reasonableness return to the market.
