BDU's?

Postby LumberZach on Sun Mar 03, 2013 12:37 am

Hey guys, it may be silly or such but I am kind of looking for a set of decent BDU's for just doing this that or the other. Any places good locally? I know fleet farm has a lot of military surplus, but I havn't seen American ones nonetheless in my size. Guys have any inputs on certain ones better than others?

Thanks in advance.

Size(s) you happen to be looking for? :? I use to wear a medium long, think I have a set or two in storage from before the ACU were issued. If not, I'm sure someone has something stored away.

I have several sets of BDUs, some lightweight and some regular. What’s your waist, inseam and chest size?

bdu.com

I buy some from there every couple of years for work in various flavors. Beat the hell out of them, last forever.

Summer's are pretty comfy too, but winters seem to hold up better to hard use for me.

I just order from la police gear, sometimes as low as $20.

CC Military Surplus has a good supply of BDU's. They carry Propper mostly and some items in Tru-Spec. They come in all shapes, sizes and patterns. Prices are fairly reasonable. They are located in Brooklyn Park and North St. Paul.

Thanks for all the responses!

I am a fairly tall guy, 6'6" and not totally skinny so I usually need to do some searching for things like these. BDU.com looks good I think I am going to give them the first crack at ordering. Do you guys have any experience with anything that I should stay away from as far as materials or such?

Thanks again guys,

I've had bad luck with the zippers on their own stuff. The plastic zippers on one pair of their pants broke on me in the first use. And I just bought a large LA gear bag from them last month. Took it out two times and one it's zippers broke off... I still order name brand stuff through them all the time, but I'm done with their own LA Police brand gear.

If you're looking to buy local, as stated above CC's should have what you need. That I know of, they're the only ones too... Fleet farm will occasionally get in some BDU style pants, I say style because I don't believe they're mil-spec...
Gone are the days of cheap G.I. surplus, though.

The top button has needed to be resown on every pair I've bought after a couple of uses. The cotton ones are nice and light in the summer, but aren't very durable. My preference is the cottton/polyester blend--quite durable and comfortable. Have some of the Battleripstop and they don't get worn much--material is almost irritating but not quite.

Surely one of our NG members could sneak someone into the PX at the airport... 8-)

They had a limited selection the last time I was down there in `01, but it's the real deal. The money goes to the boys in uniform too.

CC military your best bet.

Side story I brought them like 15 sets of bdus and 3 pair of boots 1 of them goretex. Also some odd and end dress/service uniform stuff. They only offered me 20$. For the whole lot. Was rather annoyed with them after that.
